  1. I just went and bought it. It’s very slick. Coming from Photoshop I felt right at home. It’s got some nice tricks here and there. The only thing I miss right away is color management, which is almost nonexistent. But hey, support them and they’ll keep at it.

  2. “For semi pro work, can this replace Adobe PS?” —Jubei

Anyone who seriously believes that a $59 app can replace a $500 app should think again. On some other planet, perhaps, but not on this one.

Of course, the answer to your question also depends on what kind of work you are currently doing in Photoshop. “Semi pro”, which could mean anything, is a meaningless phrase. The key point is that Photoshop, despite its many faults, is a deep and powerful piece of software. Speaking as a professional graphic designer who has been using Photoshop since version 1.0, I find it hard to believe that any $59 consumer app deserves to be compared to Photoshop at all. But hey, maybe I’m wrong.

  3. @alansky:

The Adobe product it competes with is Photoshop Elements, not the full Photoshop.

And I’m not a graphic designer, but a scientist. Pixelmator fulfills 99% of my requirements of image processing.
