Unlike Google, Micro$oft have not tried to copy Apple’s ideas and technology but have come out with their own home-grown attempt to be innovative for once. If Microsoft can maintain this standard, they might be able to survive their relevancy.

This is the only way they’re ever going to rid the place of those pesky white earbuds. During my time in Redmond I never crossed paths with any execs (the place really is gigantic, and I was on the artsy side of the freeway) so I don’t know about anyone hiding their iPhones… But I sure did see a LOT of white earbuds around. I did get a bit of a Stepford Wife robot vibe, though, when people would talk about things that were clearly going badly or nowhere. Like when you walked around the halls and people managed to be really enthusiastic about Surface, even though the tables sat lonely and userless around most of the campus, if they were even working. It’s like any place where people are looking out for their paychecks, and just sort of grinning and going with the flow.
I never crossed paths with anyone famous, though, and spent most of the last 6 months working from home.
