“People eager to buy Apple’s latest iPhone in Finland can now do so without committing to a separate phone plan,” YLE reports.
“Teleoperator Elisa is to start selling the popular phones without a tie-in sale,” YLE reports. “To date, consumers have had to purchase a fixed airtime contract together with the handset from telecommunications operator TeliaSonera.”

If you travel… the inability to switch networks is a killer. Roaming charges are not fun.
So far the real demand here has been unknown since every iPhone received by TeliaSonera over the years have been sold before hitting any shelf (waiting list have been several weeks).
There have been lot of angry customers here blaming TeliaSonera for their inability to get more phones from Apple and for their obscure (to say the least) price plans.
Now Elisa – the other big carrier here – enters the game, forcing TeliaSonera to change their business practices ..this is very good news for the average customer.

In Finland you get unlimited data at 15 Mbps for 14 eur and 3000 minutes of calls for approx 30 euros. Coverage is excellent.
