FaceTime images disappear from Middle Eastern iPhone promos

MacNN reports, “Apple has subtly modified some promotional material for the iPhone 4 to remove references to FaceTime, reports note. In Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Yemen, as well as Egypt and Jordan, official pages for the iPhone 4 no longer show a woman and man having a video conversation. Instead, Apple has substituted content promoting the device’s Retina Display.”

Michael Rose reports for TUAW that “restrictions on VoIP technology in Saudi Arabia and the UAE… could create a regulatory block for FaceTime… [or this] may represent merely a cosmetic tweak, keeping the cultural sensitivities of these largely Islamic countries in mind.”

    Seriously ‘though, religion the world over attracts extremism, Christian, Muslim, Hindu – it doesn’t matter. Religion is mind control for the middle ages – one would think that by now we’d have moved on from this mumbo jumbo.

    They don’t want respect, they want obsequious obedience to outdated religious dogma. In case ya’ll don’t remember, because you were to busy being lied to by George W Bush, the hijackers that destroyed the WTC towers in New York were Saudis. The Saudis treatment of women is not something that deserves respect or protection.
