This update adds proxy server support and push notifications for the MobileMe Calendar beta (Microsoft Outlook 2007 or 2010 are also required).
MobileMe is the online service from Apple that automatically syncs your email, contacts, and calendars over the air across all your devices. It also helps you find your lost iPhone or iPad.

Is this the prelude to … among other things … the iWork.com cloud program coming out from beta?
It’s been around for a while, so I’m not sure it can be called a “prelude” to anything in particular. It is convenient how it keeps my bookmarks in sync between my Mac’s Safari and Safari running under Windows XP. It’s also amusing how “Apple Software Update” under Windows looks almost the same as Software Update in Mac OS X, as it finds and installs updates to iTunes, QuickTime, and Safari (and this MobileMe Control Panel). Apple and Google are steadily taking over Windows.
It get rid of that annoying pop up message I get at work about “exchange server can’t sync cuz of blah blah blah” even though I’m only syncing bookmarks.
Why isn’t MDN all over the Apple Heart Adobe story? Cat got your tongue?

ken1w, that doesn’t sound like “It’s been around for a while”, except – perhaps – in Beta. As I don’t have a Windows system, much less one I’m invested in, I have not been following Apple-on-Windows … Betas, at least.
