Update went well. As soon as it was complete I suddenly got 14 recorded messages from the last two weeks! AT&T!!!!!!

Definitely helped my 3G. Keyboard is not as sluggish as before. Facebook app and MDN app works much better. I’ll have to type with it more but from what I can tell so far works much much better. I do have spotlight disabled not sure how it will work with it on although I really don’t need it.

iPhone 4 updated just fine, iPod Touch 2nd Gen updated just fine… but 3rd Gen iPod still says that there isn’t an update past 4.0.2 ~.~

Disaster! Trying to update my 3GS in Tiger and it crashed. I’ve done a hard reset and I’m trying to restore the phone but it’s trying to install the new update and has hung at exactly the same place.
I fear I may have a brick on my hands here!
It says it has a proximity issue fix. I hope it fixes the problem I’ve been having. Every 3rd or 4th call my ear mutes the mic and the person on the other end would be going, “hello, jim, hello?”
Does it improve the bettery life of an IPod Touch 2G? It would seems so somewhat so far.
Haven’t tried the 3g to see if it restores some of the v2 snappiness (I saw the hit -particularly the keyboard sluggishness- between 2 & 3 not 3 & 4) when the wife brings it home.
All signs look good, updated the iP 4 without so much as a hickup

Proximity Sensor bug not fixed on my iPhone 4. The proximity sensor is just as bad as ever after installing 4.1. Anyone else having issues or do I have a hardware issue. Thanks in advance!

Same thing for me, my third gen iPod Touch is on 4.0 and the “update checker” is telling me that this is the current version. Is it because I’m Canadian ?

The proximity sensor seems to be working normally. I was actually able to complete a call without hanging up, muting, conferencing or launching another app! So far, so good.
I do however, wish that there was a way to lock the screen while on the phone, like you pre v4.
…or maybe because I’m still with iTunes 9.2.1 ?

I was under the impression that iPad was updating to 4.1 first, then 4.2 in November.
I guess my subterranean connection got garbled.. sorry.
Attempted three times now, every time the software finishes downloading, a message tells me that the software has been corrupted.
At first I thought it probably had something to do with the fact I tried to delete 1.7 GB of music at the same time, but it’s happened three times now.
Anyone else having this problem, or know how to get round it? I’ve got an iPhone 4.

Okay, I’ve now waited for an hour for the restore to work and it hasn’t happened – it’s still stuck in the same place. Let’s see if DFU mode will sort things out.

It didn’t work! iTunes told me that the phone couldn’t be restored. What a major league disaster. Looks like it’s a trip to the Apple store for me.
Good job I held onto my first gen iPhone as an emergency back up. At least I can swap the sim card into it and still be good to go phone wise tomorrow. By that Time I’ll know whether it’s just my phone or whether Apple has another PR problem on it’s hands.

Hooray! Fourth time lucky. It’s worked a charm, HDR seems to work quite nicely, but I can’t figure out how to use Game Centre, anyone know how you find compatible games?
Saved! Plugged into a friend’s intel Mac with snow leopard and it was able to restore my phone. I’m just synching all of my stuff onto it now.

I honestly had no idea there were so many iPhone 3G users still. Will you move to iPhone 4 or 3GS? Glad it helps. On the iPhone 4 I don’t know if it’s snappier….it always was… But it’s more fluid.. When you scroll, it’s smoother.

iOS 4.1 makes my iphone4 battery drain super fast. I usually get all day. I updated to 4.1 this afternoon and have had to charge my phone twice since then. Ran down to 10% both times. Little to no use. The battery just drains. Nothing new running or downloaded just the update.

iPhone 3G (yes, still) update went without a hitch. The phone is astonishingly faster / I mean snappier / than before the update… it’s probably the fastest it’s ever been!
The phone will now reliably switch in and out of 3g mode without multiple toggles of the settings button.
Download and upload speeds are identical to what they were prior to the update.
Everything is so SNAPPY on the iPhone.
My 3G is WAAAAAAY faster now. It’s like a whole new phone!

iPod Touch 2G battery drain fix?
So this AM I saw about the update before going to school, BUT I tried to update twice and both times it gave error 1403 (the download was corrupted…)
Please help and or tell me why?!
I have tried for roughly 5 hours trying to get this to work for me but every time I download it, it says the file for this iPod that has been downloaded is corrupted. Are there any solutions to help me before I go crazy??

@Becks87: you’ll just have to persevere I’m afraid, that happened to me three times before it worked. I restarted my mac and turned my iPhone on and off, you could try that, though I don’t think it made any difference.
