It is always good to know that Apple inc. are not sitting on their laurels as tempting as the temptation may seem.
That is why it is important that Uncle Fester remains in charge at M$.
Why M Dell remains in charge of Dell and the three monkeys (Do not see, do not hear, do not speak) at Google remain in charge.
They are the fuel by which Apple inc. innovates aggressively.
W00tsters!
but is it snappy?
will it blend?
Just installed this on my 2006 MacPro with 30-inch ACD. The screen brightness is considerably greater now even at the same brightness settings as before the update. Display also looks sharper. I don’t know if it really is or if that may be due to the increased brightness.
Aperture 3 runs and looks great with the new update. I am using a Nvidia 8800 GeForce GT graphics card.
“They are the fuel by which Apple inc. innovates aggressively.”
You gotta be kidding. Apple put out this update because they screwed up the graphics drivers for our OS and made lots of apps crash. If this had happened in Windows, the Mac fanatics would be laughing at “incompetent” programmers.
About time. Starcraft II has been nigh-unplayable on most-if-not-all nvidia-based macs even on low settings.
On my 2008 Mac Pro with 8800GT, it would start stuttering after an hour or two regardless of graphics settings, necessitating a program restart in many cases.
I don’t know how this stuff happens, but Apple really needs to step up their game (no pun intended) if they want to be taken seriously in this market.
I wasn’t having any problems before, so I have no idea if this update made any difference.

I haven’t completely tested it yet, but one of the fixes is for yanking out the external monitor adapter and the screen going haywire, so I hope this fixes it.
It is, of course quite “nice” to have correct drivers for our GC… But why can’t we just have AT LEAST as much GC choice on Macs as on any cheap PC?
For many, it holds them back switching within the hour!
Interesting comment above about brightness. I thought it was just my imagination.
Apple: refining to perfection.
Microsoft: like running your car on crude oil.
i hop e it gets rid of the black lines onscreen from my crappy old x1900
Good job Apple; stay active on the video game stuff. I believe there will be a big pay-off when the Mac is just as good at gaming as Windows. Now, the hardware manufactures need to make the Mac equal with Windows when it comes to graphics cards, SLI/CrossFireX, PhysX, etc, and then there will be zero reasons to need a separate gaming pc!
If I’m not mistaken, both Crossfire and SLI are available on the graphics cards that come in the Mac, but support for it is lacking in the motherboard (which is designed by Apple).
Apple would need to enable the support first.
Since I passed on .3 and .4 because of graphics performance issues, I’ll pass on that and wait for .5.
