The design flaw of the iPhone is in the placement of the antenna, not the fact that it attenuates. Engineers at cell phone companies are well aware of the attenuation issue, and that’s why none of them were stupid enough to wrap the antenna around the outer rim of the phone.

And today my PC stands side to side to my Mac. They are both great tools I use everyday but they are as religious as any other object I care for. However I am an artist and these are my tools. But don’t get confused, brushes, pencils and paint can be considered as religious tools? I couldn’t care less.

It seems to me that religion is usually defined as a belief system that has no supporting tangible evidence. If that’s the case, Apple doesn’t qualify. Every Apple product I have simply works. They work reliably and without much effort on my part. I don’t need to consult anybody for advice on how to make them work, nor perform actions I don’t understand to get them to work.
Microsoft, on the other hand, seems to fit the above definition. People believe that Windiows will work although they have no supporting tangible evidence. They insist that Microsoft will fix all the flaws and security breaches in Windows someday, even though there has as yet been no evidence to support those claims. They believe that Windows is the best existing operating system without any evidence to support that belief. Indeed, they go to great lengths to avoid evidence which contradicts that belief.
In short, it is the Microsoft/Windows supporters who have an unreasoning and unfounded belief that their OS of choice is the besat choice. Microsoft is a religion.
Fox is basically what William Randolph Hearst was: yellow journalism. They appeal to the lowest common denominator with a slogan “fair and balanced” or “we report, you decide”. Nice slogans but if you have an agenda and only report that side of things then how can you think when the facts are slanted? Msnbc, CNN all do much of the same, fox is less embarrased about it and is mote shameless. Either way, get your news from multiple sources with varying viewpoints, then decide for yourself. Don’t let some company do it for you.

Science and religion are not incompatible. I am not religious, but I believe in a power greater than me. PS – Although it is not my profession, I was a bio major in college and spent most of my educational years study both physical and life sciences. I have a broad understanding of science ranging from molecular chemistry to quantum mechanics. To me, much of what I’ve learned points to an Infinite Being, and Universal Consciousness, or a God. Call it what you will.
Actually, C1, if you don’t see that putting “faith” in something is a natural human trait, then I think you are deluding yourself. Swap “faith” for “religion”. Faith in Science, Faith in the Government, Faith in Academics. People put their “faith” in these things, and sometimes go so far as revere them as religion. The more anti-religious one is, the more apt that person is to apply religious attributes to other institutions.
Hey, these are my opinions from many years of observations. My points are generalities and obviously don’t hold for every individual. Your milage may vary.

I sought out the original paper from SAGE.com but they’re charging twenty-five dollars for the privilege, which isn’t worth the money, based on Quain’s biased reporting.
I say biased because he can’t get his facts straight. On his website, Quain states, that Apple’s iPhone sells for 400 dollars ($500 16GB model) with a two-year plan from AT&T and everyone knows that is simply not true. Has AT&T ever charged four-hundred dollars for an iPhone with a two-year plan?
Sage.com’s abstract of Campbell’s and La Pastina’s paper sounds much more staid, than what Quain chose to bring to his readership and knowing people aren’t going to pay to read the original material, he can pretty much fudge the truth and spin this anyway he wants.

I’m a pretty big fanboy, but I buy Apple Products according to the same standards that I buy anythign else: when they’re the best products to fill a particular function that I want (even if they created that function), and I can afford them.
I don’t have an Apple TV because it doesn’t meet the first point, I don’t have Mac Pro w/Studio display because it doesn’t meet the second.
The remarkable thing is not that I’ve got so much Apple stuff (I have a lot more Nabisco and Ikea stuff), but how often Apple’s offerings meet those criteria. In my case, that’s a 24″ iMac, an ancient TiBook, iPhone4, my GFs 13″ MacBook Pro and Touch.
The remarkable thing is that that just about every time Apple decides to make an item, it meets my two qualifications.
And those qualifications seem pretty reasonable to me.
I thought al-Qaida took that shot.

And both are getting real bitchy about the world not agreeing with them.
Hey, there’s lots more religions in the world.
And it is these people that kill because of their desperate reliance on whichever religion.
