“Market researcher iSuppli has hiked its 2010 forecast for Apple iPad sales by 45%, due to indications that Apple is boosting its production targets,” Antone Gonsalves reports for InformationWeek.
“Apple will ship 12.9 million units this year, with shipments rising to 36.5 million next year and 50.4 million in 2012, iSuppli said Tuesday,” Gonsalves reports. “The researcher in April, the month Apple started shipping the tablet-style computer, predicted the company would ship 7.1 million units this year.”
Gonsalves reports, “ISuppli analyst Rhoda Alexander said iPad demand is likely to ‘vastly exceed’ supply… iSuppli believes the only limitation on iPad sales is production.. iSuppli predicted that Apple would likely release a new version of the iPad next year, possibly introducing an internal camera and expansion of the product line to include additional screen sizes. Currently accounting for 84% of the market for such media devices, Apple will likely continue to dominate at least through 2012, the researcher said.”

MacDailyNews Take: Realism finally seeps in.
As I have been saying. Apple sales is limited only by how many they can get made now.
Takes a while for the analysis to actually get it. Seems they would lead in predicting trends rather than being like a government agency that’s trips over Farmer John’s new purchase, that is the future, after running straight to the professor.
Short, analysis try to see the future and everyone else has a problem and they see the solution- except the majority of the analysis. Aaaaahhhhhh!
AAPL was @266 in pre-market trading!
And did you hear the question finally? Someone asked the question!
Q: How is Apple doing with the BILLION DOLLAR SERVER FARM?
A: On schedule.
Q: What is the schedule?
A: By end of year.
You all know what the next question is? What is Apple going to do with 400 to 500 percent greater server capacity this year? Steve said they had great new “Just one more thing(s)” for this year!
I love my iPad 3G soooo much. It is the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing at night It is so pleasurable and imersive that even out and about away from home, I grab it most often instead of my iPhone 4. I am using my iPhone less than half as much now, because it is a less enjoyable experience than the iPads big immersive screen. Anybody else?
@ Jersey
I very much believe that the only reason why iOS 4 has been delayed on the iPad is because it will be released at the same time the farm goes active, enabling it’s users to make full use of whatever riches it has to offer.
Christmas may come early this year.

I can buy the 12 million this year, and possibly the 36 million next, but 50 million? Sorry. That’s a bit steep. There will be “competition” by this time next year, desperate IT guys and penny-pinchers will be trying to staunch the flow.
Jersey_Trader … you don’t think that will be used for iWork.com and other “cloud” projects?
iSuppli = SCUM
So, these guys don’t have OEM channel sources, but rely upon comments from Apple to guess at production rates?
