“iPhoneHellas.gr claims that iOS 4.0.1 will be released today,” Arnold Kim reports for MacRumors.

“They cite a ‘reliable’ source for the information,” Kim reports. “The site, itself, has been proven to be reliable in the past with this kind of information.”

  1. Nah, bet it releases tomorrow to coincide with the press conference, along with free bumpers to whoever wants them. Charging $30 for a rubber band was ridiculous anyway.

If I were Apple, I’d take this head on. I’d give out free bumpers, do a software update if it would help, and offer replacement phones or refunds to anyone who thinks the issue is big enough to warrant returning one. That way you deal with the issue with good customer service w/o outright admitting there is an issue.

  2. @NCIceman

the bumpers are not a “rubber band” — they’re hard plastic re-inforced rubber edged with metal buttons.

quite frankly it sounds like half of the readers on this site have never seen the iPhone 4 bumpers.

  3. double post because this site needs to have an edit feature–

I’m definitely not saying the bumper should be 30 bucks. but lets at least give it some credit. it’s a quality product, not just a crappy piece of rubber.

  4. If they just released a beta to developers yesterday, a release today would seem highly unlikely. An going to get a replacement won’t get you 3.1.3 only IOS 4 on any replacement.

  5. They gave me a replacement with 3.1 yesterday and I made the mistake of updating again to 4.0 after “genius” advised me to do so. I asked him to check the phone and he verified the above info. I’m furious with myself for doing the upgrade again.

  6. I predict no update today or tomorrow. Too soon after beta, and also some claiming to have the beta say it does not help. A real mess, can’t imagine what Apple will say tomorrow. I bet it will not be Steve doing the presentation, probably just whoever got the short straw.
