iPhone Dev Team carrier unlocks Apple’s iPhone 4

That said, we here in the US are bound by phones tied to specific carriers — including the iPhone 4 with AT&T,” Robert Nelson reports for TFTS. “Needless to say, that is where the iPhone Dev Team has come in handy in the past — by offering unlocks giving iPhone users the ability to choose from a carrier other than AT&T.”

“Of course, unlocking iPhones has always been a cat and mouse game between the Dev Team and Apple. Thankfully the Dev Team seems to be able to stay ahead, though sometimes it takes a little time. Such being the case with the iPhone 4, which ended up needing a complete re-write of the software used to perform the unlock,” Nelson reports. “With that, it did take a little time, but it looks like we have good news for those looking for an unlocked iPhone 4 as the Dev Team, or more specifically PlanetBeing announced that it had been done.”
