Survey: Verizon customers suffer from iPhone jealousy

invisibleSHIELD case for iPad“Verizon has offered its subscribers the Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Incredible — arguably the strongest Android offerings on the market — but still it’s the Apple iPhone they want,” Michelle Maisto reports for eWeek.

MacDailyNews Take: They probably want a touchscreen that works properly.

Maisto reports, “While a May 4 ChangeWave survey found Verizon Wireless subscribers to be the most satisfied in the mobile industry — with 49 percent calling themselves ‘very satisfied,’ compared to 35 percent of Sprint Nextel customers, 23 percent of T-Mobile customers and 23 percent from the AT&T crowd — more than half are interested in a smartphone that they currently don’t have access to.”

“Among the combined Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile subscribers surveyed, 49 percent said they’d be ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ likely to buy an iPhone, should one become available on those networks,” Maisto reports. “Among Verizon customers alone, that figure rose to 53 percent. ‘In sum, the survey results show an unprecedented level of pent-up demand for the iPhone among Verizon subscribers,’ states the report. ‘If Verizon were ever to offer the iPhone, the evidence points to it having a profound and likely transformational impact on the industry.'”

    Apple = Unstoppable force

    Verizon = Bypass-able object. In the modern world, being immovable is usually not a good thing. Microsoft is the finding this out too, by being bypassed. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

    Verizon is spewing that garbage to keep their customers from defecting. The PR people at Verizon were schooled in vaporware by M$ PR people.

  3. Can’t Verizon and their customers pick their ball up and play elsewhere. They lost out. Deal with it. They are trying to make up for it by throwing every droid phone they can get their hands on.

    Hands down this is what it comes to. Yes AT&T;sucks in some places. Yes Verizon sucks in some places too. They are both nickel and dime their customers. Verizon is feeling the heat, not from AT&T;, but from Apple.

    The overall experience of the iPhone is remarkably great that customers are willing to deal with AT&T;’s woes as they fix them(we hope). Apple was just on a steady rise before the iPhone, and BOOM Apple has the industry still staring at Cinderella rather than the ugly step mother(microsoft) and ugly step sisters(android and blackberry)

    MDN magic word “tell” as in “TELL verizon not to hold their breathe”

  4. For the ones with sprint: it doesn’t have CDMA or what the name was right? Why don’t you just import an iPhone from Italy? Everybody in Europe with a carrier that doesn’t offer the iPhone does it that way. In Italy, SIM-LOCK is forbidden….

  5. Verizon can suck SJ’s lower member…

    After the way Verizon blew off Apple’s initial attempts to partner with them, they deserve no mercy.

    Sorry Verizon customers, but you’re stuck with your shi**y iPhone wannabes.

  6. I left Vz to get the original iPhone. Vz has great call quality and coverage (except for in Washington, DC), but their prices, rate plans, and customer serivce sucked.

    I’d love to get an iPone on Sprint with their $70 everything plan. However I’m not familar with the quality of Sprints voice service and coverage? Any comments about Sprint?
