Hey, he forgot about all the replacements people will buy due to earthquakes. In a quake it would be inevitable that they’ll slide off the table and get busted. Think of all the resales Apple would get from that!!

Well I suppose he’s right, there WILL be a very small percentage of people who have their iPad stolen and so they buy another one. But it certainly won’t be enough to have any real positive effect for Apple. And what an asinine thing to ‘report’ on. How does anybody get paid for doing that??
I get kinda tired of people thinking that the only people who buy Apple products are people who have money to throw around and waste. If I bought one and it got stolen, that would pretty much be it for me. My income isn’t THAT disposable.

Agreed. Also, I wish there was more mention about Apple products having such a high resale value that the higher initial cost is not really that high when all is said and done. (unless it gets stolen).

They must have told Mortiz that he was going to be on TV that day, but he had better bring something new about the iPad. Of course, there’s nothing new to report, so he though “theft” would be a great news story.
Of course, people were stealing papyrus scrolls in Rome, so this is nothing new.
His later comment about Apple’s stock dropping historically after an “event” is accurate, except that this isn’t an Apple “event.” The event was when Apple announced the iPad and introduced it to the media and world. The upcoming release date is nothing more than a delivery date.
By Moritz’s definition, every day is an “event” at the Apple store because people will be buying Apple products.
