When does the Flip get switched!
Finally, someone is aware that Apple is turning this HUGE server farm on!
Jersey_Trader , here you go…
So, how many sentient androids with positronic brains are they expected to make in the first year?
If there are ten more positions, the iPad’s going to need an updated version of the Kama Sutra.
Make sure these people get an extensive background check. Anyone with a Windows POS in their home gets booted out.

That is an old image. One of the locals said the the second water tower was in place and Apple paved the parking lot.
Maybe it will not be ready until there are some flowers and bushes in front. Or EVERYONE NEED TO HERE STEVE SAY, “Just one more thing” again.
This is 4 or 5 times larger than Apple’s existing server farm in California. Could be the iPad needs some Cloud Storage and Services! This could be the world’s largest Cloud DVR.
When the landscaping if finished. Will it have an area for employees to rest under various types of Apple trees?
And, will they make an area for them to see how the other 85 percent lives with an area full of weeds, bugs, and thorny brushs/flowers/trees?
Or it could be proof that Steve was sent here from 45 years in the future.
NCG598:
It was voted down for lack of a peel.
From one job listing:
“The Site Services Technician is responsible for deploying and maintaining servers and the supporting infrastructure…
Desired:
• Familiarity with Apple’s Hardware Environment
• Apple, IBM pSeries and xSeries, Sun, HP, Datadomain, NetApp, Teradata, IBM Storage
—
Sounds like they will be running Xserves in the center. That would be cool.
Ooooh, if only they weren’t in one of the most obscure corners of NC. Apple needs to open a development branch in the Research Triangle next

Great jobs – Great, Jobs.
Mr. that is.
@Jubei
Windows PC’s help keep your troubleshooting skills sharp and make Mac users truly appreciate what they have.
@NCiceman
Be nice if they put it in the Falls Lake Dam area. Plenty of water, golf course(s), and not to mention RTP and RDUi airport. RTP has some cost issue compared to Wake Forest, Zebulen, and Rolesville area(s).
Jersey Trader is dancing in the streets, jubilant at the very words”server farm”
I wonder if they are going to employ any environmentally friendly cooling systems. A college near me (Newark CA) built a state of the art building that including solar and geothermal systems to cut the usage (and cost) for heating and cooling. Incidentally that is right next to Apple’s current server farm that Jersey referred to.
Not too sure how much sun NC gets but with a flat spread out structure like the picture shows Apple could lay some serious solar paneling.
@DogGone,
There are plenty of cloudy days in NC. It’s nothing like AZ, NV, or southern CA.
@jmmx
I hear Apple runs Oracle RAC for iTunes. Oracle + xSeries + Linux + 10gE + NetApp = sweetness
It used to be employers didn’t appreciate workers with their heads in the clouds. How times have changed.
