Hoover’s, Inc. today announced its Hoover’s Near Here app is available on the App Store. The app capitalizes on the revolutionary capabilities of the iPhone and iPod touch and, soon, iPad, to provide sales and business development professionals access to location-based business information on millions of companies in the United States and Canada.
Hoover’s, founded in 1990, is a D&B company that provides its customers with insight and actionable information about companies, industries and key decision makers, along with the powerful tools to find and connect to the right people to get business done. Hoover’s provides this information for sales, marketing, business development, and other professionals who need intelligence on U.S. and global companies, industries, and the people who lead them.
“At Hoover’s, we understand that business is no longer restricted to desk-side transactions, but increasingly happens on the go,” said Hyune Hand, president of Hoover’s, in the press release. “With the Hoover’s Near Here App, busy professionals on the road can find prospects like never before and in complete accordance with their daily workflows and schedules, making every business trip more productive.”
With the Hoover’s Near Here App, users are able to find companies based on their current location or any other location in the United States and Canada. Easily viewable on a map or in a list, users can refine search results to meet their specific requirements by applying several criteria, including multiple ranges of revenue and number of employees at a particular location, multiple industries or a simple keyword search, and they can save those filters for future searches. The search area is adjusted by moving the map or changing the search address.
Hoover’s Near Here allows users to retrieve key data points, including:
• Company Name
• Doing Business As (DBA) Name(s)
• Physical Address
• Phone Number
• Web site
• Primary Industry
• Annual Sales
• Number of employees at that location
• Key contacts and titles at that location
Based on the data provided, Hoover’s Near Here users can quickly and easily place a phone call to the company, visit the company’s Web site, get step-by-step driving directions and find local competitors. Users also can sort companies in ascending or descending order by annual sales, company name or total employees, and bookmark their favorite locations for future searches and favorite companies.
“We’re focused heavily on the design and supporting infrastructure of the Hoover’s Near Here App so that we can provide the best possible mobile experience to traveling sales professionals, who need to make use of every minute when they’re on the road,” said Peter Poulin, executive vice president of Hoover’s, in the press release. “By capitalizing on the strengths of the devices we are ensuring that Hoover’s Near Here users have anywhere, anytime access to the information they need to do their jobs and grow their business.”
The Hoover’s Near Here App is US$29.99, but will be available for $19.99 for a limited time from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch and, soon, iPad.

But does it suck?
Lol, and I thought this was for the vacuum cleaner company.
Not familiar with this Hoovers, what do they do? Is this for specific types of companies?
Give it up already, Roomba is here!
I was going to say “I’m sure they’ll clean up” but I see it’s some other Hoover. Dam!
You idiots. Your vacuum jokes are too obvious. Hoover’s is a vast database of information businesses and executives. It is an essential tool for business-to-business sales and marketing. You clueless jerks make my head hurt.
Ah, OK.
I understand what Hoover’s does, and the information they provide. (All sorts of financial information about businesses, if you don’t know. Take a college course in business and you’ll at tleast use their free stuff. No, not vacuum cleaners.)
Why I would want geolocated information, I can’t fathom. However, I guess there are those who are interested.
Somebody needs to suck it up and help Clue-by-four find his sense of humor. I wonder if it’s behind the couch?
I’m glad someone’s filled this vacuum…
I’ll get my coat.
GM doing business as Government Motors.
“Take it easy, Francis!”
That gives me a great idea for another app: “Hovers Near Here”, which finds heliports based on your current location.
I dated a girl nicknamed Hoover once.
Only once?
I think that the title has a typo. It should be hooters not hoover’s.
Cubert always paid the girl before the first date.
Your such a Potsie!
You sound like a hoover door-to-door salesman! Stop being such a dust-bag! Obviously this forum is being a canister for bad jokes so seriously, take your powerhead and filter your rage, will ya?
