Apple shareholders re-elect all board members

Blowout Specials ends 2/28“Shareholders re-elected Apple Inc.’s board of directors on Thursday, insuring continuity as the company prepares for one of its biggest products releases in years,” Ben Charny reports for Dow Jones.

“Former Vice President Al Gore, Genentech Inc. Chairman Arthur Levinson and Avon Products Inc. Chairwoman and Chief Executive Andrea Jung were among the members of the seven-person board that was returned to its post,” Charny reports. “Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs, who said the company had a ‘truly great’ board, also was re-elected.”

“The vote also comes after a shake-up of Apple’s board last August when Google Inc. CEO Eric Schmidt stepped down,” Charny reports. Jobs defended Schmidt when asked by a shareholder if the Google chief had behaved properly when serving as an Apple board member. ‘Eric Schmidt conducted himself appropriately and recused himself on matters that might involve conflict,”‘Jobs said.”

  1. I voted Gore out as well. I think as more people realize he is on the board it could affect future new-comer sales. What good could the guy possibly contribute. He just a useless pawn….

  2. Why is Al Gore on the board? What experience does he bring to Apple? The Government in Washington DC just had that technology / computer summit, Apple was not there. Microsoft was! Can’t Al Gore even get an invitation by a Democratic controlled Federal Government for Apple?

Al Gore should resign and move on!

  3. I wonder if any other board member was to make a science fiction movie and present it as truth, perpetrate massive fraud on the world, and become a billionaire in the process – would he still be allowed to serve on Apple’s board?

    Just wondering.

sorry for seeming clueless but… I did watch the debate where he overstated his Involvement… He did play a large role in passing key legislation that allowed the Internet to blossom BUT what people/the media pounced on was his seeming lack of modesty and exaggeration. Hence the jokes… Mine included.

What makes you think Apple wanted to participated in the tech summit? Maybe they were ask and said thanks, but no thanks.
Apple is not really known for sharing their ideas. And with Microsoft there, every idea they would come up with would go directly back to Redmond.

  6. oh yes, pls do bend over and stick your head in the sand, convinced that all the environmental destruction and degradation that has happened in the last 60 years was just coincidental to your short meager inconsequential time on this earth….after all, corporations have now been pronounced human, so ip so facto, we know no human activity was the cause of the current and coming shit-storm

  7. wow, I hope you are being sarcastic, and don’t REALLY still believe that nonsense that has been proven wrong on all levels ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
