And what Gore actually did say, was supported at the time by the Republican leaders in Congress. It was some of the media talking heads that distorted it, when he was campaigning for presidency.
I wonder if any other board member was to make a science fiction movie and present it as truth, perpetrate massive fraud on the world, and become a billionaire in the process – would he still be allowed to serve on Apple’s board?

sorry for seeming clueless but… I did watch the debate where he overstated his Involvement… He did play a large role in passing key legislation that allowed the Internet to blossom BUT what people/the media pounced on was his seeming lack of modesty and exaggeration. Hence the jokes… Mine included.
