9 to 5 Mac’s Chauncey Dupree has compiled a bunch of new iPad tidbits with screenshots and posted them online for your viewing pleasure.
Screenshots include:
• YouTube Videos can play in HTML5 (this looks really good btw, not sure if a dedicated Youtube App is necessary)
• Optional Battery Percentage Indicator:
• File Sharing (will this find its way to iPhone OS 4?)
• Lock screen media controls
• Photo frame access from lock screen
• Playing Quicktime audio in Safari:
• Built-in Google Suggestions
• Handwriting for Chinese character input
• Square Home Screen Web Clip icons
See them all in the full article here.
Mmmm…. tidbits and milk.
I think I might get a first gen iPad for a client but html video replay worries me a bit, is anyone else getting stuttered playback on their C2D or iPhone?
Apple has yet to fully reveal its creative hand for the iPad. Meanwhile, this bread-crumb effect is torturous. Hey Apple, throw me a bone.

I wonder what else Apple isn’t telling us yet?? Excited about file sharing though. This is swiftly moving from just a content consumption device to a mild content creation device too.
@ Snapper
I am running a mini 2.26 and have not had 1 problem with HTML5 video at any site that is using it.
Might be time for Onyx? Just a thought.
Only think among these 10 that is of interest to me is the possibility of file sharing – not sure if the Pad version is true file sharing, but maybe.
Even so, I’m still not a buyer for this thing. Rather have a real computer.
Heck, my old 1.2 GHz G4 iBook runs HTML5 just fine.
A curse upon your moustache Adobe!
The pictures don’t look like an iPad at all. The bezel is too narrow.
@ Still No,
The iPad is an adjunct to a computer, not a replacement. Why people can’t understand this is beyond me. It would be pretty darn stupid for Apple to want to replace their grip on the over $1,000 computer market with a gizmo that sells for $500. You need a Mac or PC to sync the iPad, just like an iPod or iPhone.
I hope the iPad can play a wider range of QuickTime movies in Safari. The absence of Flash would be a lot less painful.
You haven’t seen nuttin yet. As we get closer to launch date, you’ll see more and more never before released goodies populating the news about the iPad.
The iPad is a revolutionary device. For some it will replace a computer. For many it will be a stepping stone towards a New path that will lead to the Apple orchard!
@AC
The iPad will be the perfect PC replacement for my technophobic mother-in-law!
The only question is how many Macs/iPhones/iPods touch it will be at the expense of.
@bon
I think those are screen shots from the iPad SDK. Apple has apparently modified the iPad representation to eliminate the wasted pixels that would be needed to display the full bezel width. Just a guess, but seems reasonable and likely.
flash or no flash… for your new Home Page
http://www.200linx.com .it doesnt really matters, since, it gives you all that you need in the internet, in only one click.
google,facebook,youtube,twitter, yahoo, the times etc.
try it…

What does the Chinese character they showed stand for? Is there a stroke checker App?
@ R2
You can probably play ALL Quicktime movies that have a hardware decoder on the iPad.
And you’ll not be able to use your punched cards either… Sorry!
Version 2 will have organic, self lubricating and healing orifices. It’s all about market demand. There’s already a black market in SE Asia selling the iPad Thai.
My iPad order for the $499 WiFi model will be in the day they open the order desk!
Sure the 1st Gen won’t have all the bells and whistles, but you do NOT have to be a genius to see where this is going & it is…
1. Minimal Headache hardware: just like iPhone
2. Easy info gathering and sharing: lots of appls., Apple or 3rd Party.
3. Easy doc markup, editing in a variety of apps: iWork is a surprise
4. Standard internet work: a breeze.
5. Learning: Textbooks, Manuals, PDFs, Lectures, videos: trivial
6. Kids and hubby: MINIMAL maintenance work and MAX. safety.
7. For Me: Once I know I can use Skype effectively on the iPad; GoodBye extra iPhone. For some people, that will be “goodbye iPhone”.
8. It would NOT surprise me to see Apple even come out with an iPadMini with an inch shaved off for the business user in 1-2 years.
The future is always in view…if we study the details. iPads will revolutionize access and use. Creation will still reside with “computers”, but most laptops don’t get used for that, and will die off quickly.
Sell your netbook now? Well a sub $500 netbook’s resale is probably already not worth enough to do that. I would hate to have a huge inventory of netbooks a month from now.
Any phone user seeing the first 5 minutes of Steve’s iPhone rollout knew what the future was holding. You didn’t have to be a genius.
The lizard brain writers online suggesting all the reasons iPad is a loser and not going to succeed, work, last, etc, are going to eat their words.
+1 Burrell.
Someone who “gets it.”
