Microsoft-branded Windows Phone 7 Series delayed until 2011

“Apple did it. Google did it. Now it’s Microsoft’s turn,” Scott Moritz reports for TheStreet.com.

“The Redmond, Wash., software giant is working with computer hardware manufacturer Asustek to build its own phone,” Moritz reports. “The planned device is a so-called candy bar touchscreen design running on Microsoft’s newly introduced Windows Phone 7 operating system, says Northeast Securities analyst Ashok Kumar, who talked with Microsoft’s suppliers and design partners.”

Moritz reports, “Microsoft and Asus have encountered some setbacks on the road to manufacturing the next Apple iPhone killer or Google Android annihilator. Production of the phone has been stopped temporarily. ‘The phone is still alive,’ says Kumar, but its arrival to the market will now probably be put off until early next year.”

  1. Well what does Harold have to say about this? Kumar can’t always be right. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

If MS really builds this, their screwing their partners again! Hilarious.

  2. @ R2

I have read that the new “Windows Phone 7 Series Super HD” will be able to stream Pandora while your surf for porn and go poo-pee at the same time. Happy now? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  3. To think once they could freeze a market by just mentioning they had something coming out. Partners waiting on their every breath.

Now it’s just sad. Balmer comes out and give’s his pitch and within a couple days they are already delaying it.

No one in the market actually cares anymore what MS say’s, really. It’s almost painful to watch, I almost feel sorry for them.

    But I can handle it.

  4. Although I’ve been lusting for an iPhone ever since it was rumored to exist, do you wanna know why i still have a Windows Mobile 6 phone?

Because I can use it as a WiFi router on Verizon’s EVDO 3G network on an unlimited data plan with no data cap.

It’s really not sooo bad once you get used to using a stylus (I never use the slide-out keyboard), frequent freezes and crashes, and frequent reboots to free up lost memory for applications to load. I can’t wait for the new Windows 7 phone on Verizon (not).

  5. Whenever M$ announces a product, you can expect a follow-up announcement about delays. It’s gotten to the point where the only thing they excel at is blowing rings of vapor. If investors were to use their investment dollars to vote for innovative companies, Redmond would be in a lye-covered pit. As it is, the infection that is Windoz, Office and Server prop up this bloated, rotting monument to lock-in and FUD.
