“Apple and Verizon are rumored to be in negotiations for a summer 2010 CDMA iPhone launch, [but] the nation’s largest wireless carrier and the handset maker are believed to be at odds over pricing,” Neil Hughes reports for AppleInsider.
“In a new note to investors Tuesday morning, Maynard J. Um of UBS Investment Research said that a new iPhone is expected to launch in mid-2010. Whether that phone would be available for Verizon’s CDMA network remains to be seen,” Hughes reports. “‘We believe a CDMA-iPhone is also in the works,’ Um wrote, ‘though believe Verizon Wireless and Apple may currently be apart on pricing.'”
Hughes writes, “Last fall, conflicting reports within chip maker Qualcomm suggested a Verizon-capable iPhone could arrive in mid 2010. Whether that handset would be a dual-mode world phone, or a Verizon-only CDMA model was disputed.”

MacDailyNews Take: Bet you wish you were still on Apple’s Board, huh, Eric? Have a nice day, iPhone wannabes. ![]()
I would really like it if MDN would stop bashing other wireless providers as if AT&T;is the best and brightest JUST because Apple is working with them right now.
Apple USED to have a good relationship with Adobe…and look how that turned out.
Listen, WHO CARES which network the iPhone runs on, THEY ALL HAVE THEIR GOOD AND BAD parts.
It just makes MDN loose all credibility when they pick sides between the lessor (maybe) of the two devils.
What if the next generation of iPhones were to support CDMA as well as GSM ? Then there would be no need for a dedicated Verizon phone. The one model of iPhone could work on all networks all over the world.
Apple will EVENTUALLY be on all carriers.
And let’s face it, outside of those who want a keyboard… everyone will choose an iPhone over any other pretender. They are good phones too. But hey, we know the app store is the secret to the iPhones success.
And now with this supposed Tablet being another source that may feed the iPhone… I think the competition (especially RIM), will get a real awakening.
Safe it to say… i will short/buy option puts on RIMM after spring. Apple and Android will be the only true smartphone players. With Apple being the platform of choice for developers
“It just makes MDN loose all credibility…”
People who can’t spell lose tend to lose credibility, too…
No way will there ever be an iPhone on Verizon, IMHO. I’d bet His Steveness would go with T-Mobile. They could just sell the same phone, no side-line production, and twist the knife on Verizon a little more.
Another iPhone on Verizon rumor? It must be January. Oh wait. It is! But who knows? This might be the year.
iPhone 3GV will be on Verizon:
