“Apple currently plans to host a media event on Wednesday, Sept. 9 to introduce its 2009 iPod offerings and make a host of other music-related announcements,” Kasper Jade reports for AppleInsider.
“Apple, as it has for the past four years, is expected to use the gathering to introduce new versions of its iPod nano and iPod touch digital music players, both of which should serve as dual-purpose point-and-shoot cameras for the first time. AppleInsider also has it on authority that cameras are just one piece to this year’s iPod story,” Jade reports. “Also likely is an introduction of iTunes 9.”

MacDailyNews Note: 9-9-09 also happens be the date of another event:
Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI Music announced back on April 7, 2009 the release of the original Beatles catalog, which has been digitally re-mastered for the first time, for worldwide CD release on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 (9-9-09), the same date as the release of the “The Beatles: Rock Band” video game. On the same date, two new Beatles boxed CD collections will also be released.
Also, eagle-eyed MacDailyNewsReader “Ned G.” reports that the September 2009 issue of Bass Player magazine (not yet available online) states: “For modern-day Beatles fans, access to such brilliant recordings as ‘Hey Bulldog’ is about to get a whole lot easier, and that’s cause for celebration, indeed.”
Perhaps something else regarding The Beatles will also be announced on 9-9-09?
No, I reckon you’re completely wrong with the Beatles angle. To me, it’s obviously got something to do with Bryan Adams ‘Cloud Number 9’.
Perhaps he’s going to announce a greatest hits album to premiere on iTunes.
I’m more excited about a Beatles release than anything else.. but perhaps that’s because I have 5 iPods and an iPhone.. what else could I possibly covet?
The Beatles songbook finally on iTunes. Whohoooooo!
And, cue clueless posters who don’t realize the significance of Beatles’ music. Let’s see, will it be “Who cares?” or “Yawn” or “Too late”?
If sources didn’t say it, who would?
I sure hope the new iPod Touches integrate technologies from Ambarella and Imagination technologies to create a iPod + Flip video HD device. Judging by the recent press release by Ambarella, I don’t expect such a fusion until next year, but it would be a dream if came next month.
GarageBand loadable Beatles song files for everybody to remix them and to learn to play “real” music.
OK, back to editing some Chinese karaoke songs.
Boy you said we’re traveling on the one after 9-0-9
Look for Paul and Ringo to be at the Apple event.
Any truth in the rumor Microsoft will counter with it’s own media event announcing a special edition Zune – featuring the collected works of Spinal Tap!!!
Let’s hope the Tap get up and perform a few songs, and Balmer get’s up on stage with the Tap as ‘guest drummer’….
•*•*BooooM•*•*
999 is just the price of the original Apple computer.
Upside down.
say goodbye to the ipod classic. say hello to 128gb ipod touch. maybe it’ll have disk mode (fat chance).
I am not waiting on pins and needles for the Beatles catalog to hit itunes. Their music is available in a lot of different places. I think it would have been huge if introduced at the same time as itunes several years ago. It would have declared iTunes a very big deal.
Personally, I preferred the older iPod design, before the split-screen UI.
I give the newer ones as gifts but replaced my ’06 HD with a nice 320Gb unit. Bypass the built-in amp and go thru some nice HD800s.
Lovely.
yeah, MS announces the entire music collection of the Lawrence Welk Show. The Zune takes off like a rocket!!
Who are the Beatles and why do I care, 50+ years later?
Beatles? BAH – who cares anymore?
jk., Uncle Al 😀
I’m stoked.
Who are the Beatles again?
Oh, NO! Not more iPods?! I have 4 iPods now! I guess now I’m going to have to go out and buy even more… Oi!
I’d rather see them fix the flaky iPhone Notes syncing and get MMS turned on.
They would make a killing with a special edition Beatles iPod.
Especially if was preloaded with Beatles ablums. People who have all the Beatles vinyl records, and never bothered to get all the CD’s, could finally have a reason to enter the digital age.
Number Nine….Number Nine…..
When you play the White Album backward on your iPod, you can hear it say:
“Balmer is Toast, Balmer is Toast….”
Who cares, the beatles aren’t all that…maybe 50 years ago, but who gives a sh*t now…please…Old news, old guys and old songs. Not impressed….
the new iPod Touch will have an incorporated pico projector so you can watch your movies on any available flat surface (ie. wall)
Let’s take this opportunity to once again byatch slap Microsoft, always a Crowd Pleaser …
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
And once again try to show them the error of their ways, but still doubt they’ll ever Get It™
So, altogether now …
