Apple to unveil new iPod lineup on September 9 say sources

Mac OS X Snow Leopard“Apple currently plans to host a media event on Wednesday, Sept. 9 to introduce its 2009 iPod offerings and make a host of other music-related announcements,” Kasper Jade reports for AppleInsider.

“Apple, as it has for the past four years, is expected to use the gathering to introduce new versions of its iPod nano and iPod touch digital music players, both of which should serve as dual-purpose point-and-shoot cameras for the first time. AppleInsider also has it on authority that cameras are just one piece to this year’s iPod story,” Jade reports. “Also likely is an introduction of iTunes 9.”

MacDailyNews Note: 9-9-09 also happens be the date of another event:

Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI Music announced back on April 7, 2009 the release of the original Beatles catalog, which has been digitally re-mastered for the first time, for worldwide CD release on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 (9-9-09), the same date as the release of the “The Beatles: Rock Band” video game. On the same date, two new Beatles boxed CD collections will also be released.

Also, eagle-eyed MacDailyNewsReader “Ned G.” reports that the September 2009 issue of Bass Player magazine (not yet available online) states: “For modern-day Beatles fans, access to such brilliant recordings as ‘Hey Bulldog’ is about to get a whole lot easier, and that’s cause for celebration, indeed.”

Perhaps something else regarding The Beatles will also be announced on 9-9-09?

Number 9, number 9, number 9…

  1. I sure hope the new iPod Touches integrate technologies from Ambarella and Imagination technologies to create a iPod + Flip video HD device. Judging by the recent press release by Ambarella, I don’t expect such a fusion until next year, but it would be a dream if came next month.

  2. Any truth in the rumor Microsoft will counter with it’s own media event announcing a special edition Zune – featuring the collected works of Spinal Tap!!!

Let’s hope the Tap get up and perform a few songs, and Balmer get’s up on stage with the Tap as ‘guest drummer’….

  3. I am not waiting on pins and needles for the Beatles catalog to hit itunes. Their music is available in a lot of different places. I think it would have been huge if introduced at the same time as itunes several years ago. It would have declared iTunes a very big deal.

  4. Personally, I preferred the older iPod design, before the split-screen UI.
I give the newer ones as gifts but replaced my ’06 HD with a nice 320Gb unit. Bypass the built-in amp and go thru some nice HD800s.
    Lovely.

  5. They would make a killing with a special edition Beatles iPod.

Especially if was preloaded with Beatles ablums. People who have all the Beatles vinyl records, and never bothered to get all the CD’s, could finally have a reason to enter the digital age.

And once again try to show them the error of their ways, but still doubt they’ll ever Get It™
