“It’s been a busy day for the Nā Lei Hulu, Ka Wēkiu Dancers, who started their Hit and Run Hula at Pier 39 this morning, bused over to the Ferry Building, made their way to the stage at Union Square, stopped at the Apple Store, the Cable Car Turnaround, were kicked out of the Westfield Mall food court by security (figures), and quickly ambushed the BART station instead,” Leanne Maxwell reported for SFist.
SFist caught up with them at the Apple Store:

sign of the times when this is big news…
No one is saying that it is big news. It’s not even a sign of the times. It’s just nonesense. Some people are entertained by nonsense.
Geez… misread that headline!
For a moment, I’d though NBC called in a ninja “Hulu” hit squad to a shopping mall.
Some people like a bit of unexpected fun in their lives.
Good for the Hula folks!
Anything but line dancing is ok with me.
theloniousMac and Breeze,
You both need to lighten up and have some fun.
Seriously? seeing a bunch of people hula in an apple store didn’t make you chuckle?
Line dancers would be a hit and run in Dallas.
I love this! It was fun, harmless and wonderfully off the wall. No animals were harmed in the making of the film. Customers and employees were amused. How can this not be a good thing?
In a world like ours, maybe we all need a bit more hula.
And consider this: The Apple Store was important enough for them to visit. What are the odds of a Microsoft Store ever experiencing the same event? (Unless Ballmer hires them out of desperation…)
@theloniousMac: consider a name change to “the loneliest Mac”. Seriously, even if you don’t want to lighten up and have a little fun in life — you don’t have to be a Scrooge to the rest of the world.
@Jimmy Buffet
The only Hit & Run Hulu you’ll hear about from Microsoft will be when Ballmer plows over several dancers on the way to a Hawaiian Pig Roast.
This didn’t hurt anybody and I’m sure provided more delight to more people than all the sitcoms that ran that day combined.
I like seeing people DOING something for fun instead of expecting their fun served to them.
I’m running the 10a432 build right now.
Jamie, get ready to eat that hat.
So amazing. this is the one we have all been waiting for.
san francisco is so freekn cool…
That was cool.
That was great! I think they may have gotten the idea from something similar in Belgium I’ve seen on youtube, huge numbers of people doing a coordinated dance in their train stations. Really neat to see.
That’s fantastic! Would have been even better if I was at the mall when it happened. Amazing that security guards chase them out. Just shows how down our society is in general when something happy, fun, and creative as this is not allowed.
What, no grass skirts, coconuts, or flaming batons??? What fun is that???
If you’ve studied Hula, you would see that these guys are actually really good.
Hurrah for our Fiftieth State!
wow a lot of fat people doing hula, who could ask for more?
Don’t know anything about hula. If someone could interpret for me and let me know if they are giving info about the tablet I would appreciate it.
%)
That looked really fun.
