Beleaguered Palm sucking wind; Eos ‘Pixie’ may be delayed to 2010, Pre sales continue to plummet

Apple Online Store “Palm’s next webOS handset, the so-called Eos (codename: Pixie)” — that was supposed to be ready in time to peddle to the oblivious in time for Christmas — may have slipped into 2010, according to a report from AllThingsD’s John Paczkowski.

As if that’s not bad enough news for Palm’s assemblage of Apple castoffs, Paczkowski reports that Morgan Joseph Analyst Ilya Grozovsky recently wrote in a research note to clients, “‘We do not have significant unit assumptions for this product given the continued success of the iPhone at AT&T.'”

MacDailyNews Take: Ouch. Will Palm even make it to 2010?

Oh, and BTW, Paczkowski also reports, “Grozovsky is among those analysts who believe Pre sales are slowing. According to his checks, Pre sales fell from 200,000 units in June to 100,000 in July. He expects them to fall even further in August. And should this occur, a price cut may follow.”

MacDailyNews Take: Double ouch. Look on the bright side, Palm, with so few units out in the wild, it’ll be a cinch to clandestinely keep track of your users’ locations and apps.

MacDailyNews Take: Beleaguered Palm has been running on fumes for quite some time now, so it’s no surprise that it’s misfiring on all cylinders. This is what happens when a desperate, dying company dangles takeover bait and nobody bites.
