“For those of you with Apple TVs, we want to let you know that boxee does run on the updated 2.3.1 software,” Boxee’s Andrew Kippen reports.
MacDailyNews Note: Among other things, boxee gives allows users to stream content from websites like Netflix, CBS, Comedy Central, Last.fm, and flickr.
Kippen reports, “Each firmware update from Apple will normally erase non-Apple menu items from AppleTV.”
“Boxee users simply need to re-apply the patchstick to add the menu item back,” Kippen reports. “Additionally boxee software and data persists so after the patchstick has been applied, so user logins, media sources, preferences, etc. will be just as they were before the upgrade.”
