Report: Mac OS X 10.5.3 due ‘very soon’

“The long awaited major bug fix update to Mac OS X Leopard, 10.5.3, will be released very soon. The latest test build, 9D34, has only one new fix and no known bugs,” Danny Gorog reports for APC Magazine.

“According to numerous reports, the next update to Leopard, 10.5.3 could be released very soon. The latest build, 9D34, released late last week has one new fix and no known issues left, according to developers familiar with the release. Apple have been working on the update sine the release of 10.5.2 in February,” Gorog reports.

“With only 2 weeks left to WWDC, and a shrinking number of issues left to address, chances are high that Apple will make the 10.5.3 release available very soon. If the 10.5.2 update is any comparison, expect 10.5.3 to weigh in at over 300MB and be available,” Gorog reports.

  1. Haven’t we been hearing this for the past month?
I guess if you keep repeating it, eventually it will be true. Especially if you time your guess near a major Apple event.

    PS.
    Bug fixes?
Doesn’t Apple continually tinker with the OS to tweak performance?

  2. So, according to the article, if 10.5.2 is any comparison, this release will:
    1. Be over 300MB
    2. Be ‘available’
Is that available just for download, or is it available in other ways? Like if I wanted to date 10.5.3, is it ‘available’ for that?

  3. @ james

“Dont trust what apple says ! … There are still lots of unresoveld bugs in 10.5.3. One of them affects the TXN system, which is the basis of many text manipulation program..”

Yeah, that’s it. I’m not gonna trust Apple at all. I’m gonna believe whatever “james” says.

  4. 3 months was too long. 10.5.2 makes my video card freeze repeatedly. i finally pinned it down to the combination of 10.5.2 and ram bought at crucial. as a workaround, i’ve gone back to using the original ram that came with my comp, and even now it’s started to freeze several times a day. i’m going to wait 2 weeks for this update to come out. if the “graphics fixes” do not resolve the freezing, then i’m whipping out my machine and installing tiger. i’m tried of these crashes. leopard worked perfectly fine before 10.5.2.
