part II, video is working much better, and thanks to MemoryCell I can monitor any apps memory use on the tool bar, and Safari 3.0.4(523.12) has definitely plugged some holes.
Well I say this is bad. The new Safari doesn’t seem to understand any of my bookmarks as webadresses. Nothing happens, whatever I choose. Using Firefox is not a problem
elaboration re Hotmail access denial in Safari:
Safari goes through a long series of redirects, ultimately ending at a Windows Live notification page which states that “Windows Live ID is not available from this site”. The only way we can get in with Safari is to then go to the Windows Live services page and pretend to modify the account preferences. At that point Windows Live (and Hotmail) becomes available to Safari for a few hours, only to return to non-accessible status shortly thereafter. This development is about a month old and consistently repeatable.
I dunno …maybe it’s a geographically restricted lock-down test by Microsoft? I just assumed it was happening to everybody.
“me“, you are kidding, right? We have five Macs in the house, three just for my wife and me. I bought the Leopard Family Pack, but only updated my dual G5 – the iBook and the Al iMac are waiting for 10.5.1 … or, perhaps, 2. Safari 3 breaks some sites. My wife won’t accept that. I have to be able to promise her that it won’t break anything she uses – or restore the older system – or she doesn’t want it. New stuff may be SaWEEEt, but working stuff is the BEST.
Because of my problems with Safari 3, only our laptop will be getting “11” until I’ve checked further.

It seems to me like Safari3 is able to load tabgroups though not the first adress in those groups and choosing individual adresses doesn’t work. It also complained about the security certificates for my banksite though it worked on the previous version yesterday. How do I downgrade back to the betaversion?
I notice that with Safari 3 GMail Chat now works and my bank’s site (NatWest in UK) which wouldn’t allow the beta to be used now works fine.
I should add:
We also get the same denial of Hotmail access on the old G3 iMac with OS X 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3.2.
The problem seems to be coming straight from Microsoft, imho. It’s not a problem inherent only to Safari 3. And .. it’s new. Everything used to work just fine. Now it doesn’t, regardless which OS and regardless which Safari.
Same thing happened to me. I have enabled the debiug option. If you change the usaer agent to for example, Firefox, hotmail will load fine. So the problem IS Microsoft blocking Safari users
Does this update disable bootcamp??
how can I say it gently? .. ah f*&k;hotmail, use gmail, or yahoo.. an acronym for You. Always. Have. Other. Options.
I just upgraded, and now I can’t feel my liver……
Downgraded my iMac from Leopard to this-hopefully Apple will fix Leopard’s airport issues soon.
heh. Maybe MDN can somehow independently confirm this Microsoft Safari Hotmail-denial attack and run a big exposé. lol. I would just love that.

My Quadra feels much snappier after this update!
Thanks for all who have posted about their experiences with update. I’m still hesitant to take the plunge with an iMac 17 800 MHz PC G4. Could be some time into the New Year before I get a Leopard compatible Apple Computer. Can anyone within my type of set-up encourage me to move on to Safari 3?
MW=lived, as I have lived through a previous bad experience with an update.
There must have been some Rosetta updates because Bejeweled 2 deluxe now works. Now I need to try out Quicken 2006. It has been broken since 10.4.8
Thought the upgrade would fix the fact that QT doesn’t show video in Safari. Just another incorrect thought. QT works in FireFox.
Just upgraded to 10.4.11 the browser is a he!! of allot better. Purchased Leopard waiting on 10.5.1 and want 2 hear feedback plus i use skype and don’t want compromise its functionality…I switched from pc to mac awhile back and will never look back…
Probably the last dot dot update for Tiger. A System update that includes a Safari update – that’s a new one…
I have the same problem with Safari that Mymac4ever has… pages not loading… whether via bookmarks or by directly typing in the URL.
Any further info on this?
very happy with the update

MW: “some” now apple give us some graphics card drivers (imac)
I’m running Leopard but my PowerBook is snappier just by reading this article!
@twodales,
Trust me – update your Cube to Leopard. Mine works great under it – better than Tiger even!
If you don’t know how, reply back and I’ll reply with some options.

“Now I need to try out Quicken 2006. It has been broken since 10.4.8”
What is broken? I use Quicken 2005 through all the Tiger updates (except .11) and now Leopard and it seems to work fine. I don’t use all its “features” so maybe it is “broken” and I don’t notice (or care).
Thanks
