CCP Games releases EVE Online for Apple Macintosh

“CCP Games on Tuesday released a Macintosh version of EVE Online, its Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) set in outer space. A free 14-day trial is available for download with no credit card required; EVE Online costs $14.95 per month to play thereafter (the first month costs $19.95),” Peter Cohen reports for Macworld.

“EVE was converted to the Intel Mac using Cider, the same TransGaming-made technology that’s led to almost a dozen other Macintosh game releases in 2007, including six titles from Electronic Arts (EA), GameTap Lite, the forthcoming GameTap Deluxe, Heroes of Might and Magic V, X3: Reunion and Myst Online: Uru Live,” Cohen reports.

  1. The title got me excited because I’ve always wanted to play that game. But it’s only for Intel, and playing games on a MacBook is lame. Oh well, I’ll just have to hope Apple releases the mini Pro soon.

  2. This isn’t a particularly intensive game, so I doubt it would be noticeable on new-ish hardware… and since virtually all intel macs are new-ish hardware, in other words it shouldn’t be a problem.
