“Apple this week provided its vast developer community with new pre-release builds of its upcoming Mac OS X 10.4.11 Update, expected to be the company’s final revision to the Tiger operating system ahead of Leopard’s October launch,” Prince McLean reports for AppleInsider.
“In Delta form, Mac OS X 10.4.11 currently weighs in as 65MB disc image for PowerPC Macs and a 119MB disc image for Intel Macs. The software is expected to see a release sometime this month or early next,” McLean reports.

Will Leopard hurry up and please make its presence known???
Questions for Leopard Beta testers:
How does Time Machine work? Does it require it’s own drive or can you partician a current drive to add Time Machine? I want to get a new HD for my MacPro that I can use for video storage and for Time Machine. Will that work?
The last Tiger cub.

maniMac:
“Time Machine requires a non-booting hard-drive or partition to be connected to the computer. It can backup to internal hard-drives or partitions, as well as to external volumes connected by USB or Firewire. It can also backup to networked drives, including those connected wirelessly via the Airport Extreme 802.11n router. Further, the volume needs to be formatted with the Mac OS extended file system.”

Nice, Macromancer.
Marty DiBergi: “Why don’t you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?”
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] “These go to eleven.”
Fatting up the lambs machines with bloat code before the Leopard slaughter? Why is the intel version almost twice as big? All that code going into EFI to monitor our content?
Well it\’s only MB and not GB\’s, so it shouldn\’t do too much damage. iHope.
Perhaps the update will reduce the glossy screen refelctions a bit.
@No Squirt For You
Your link is broken. It should be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Machine_(software).
Weird. It broken my link too, even though it was correct. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> So I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume yours was correct too.
Anyone interested, just copy and paste this into your browser: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Machine_(software)
(Clicking the link won’t work, you have to copy the whole thing including the final closing parenthesis.)
I’ll take a stab…
Version 10.5 – Leopard – On 10/5
maniMac;
I would get a seperate drive for time machine, just because it sucks up allot of space. It keeps everything that you do so if you move large files around on your hard drive it’ll keep copies of those and that.
I am currently using a 500GB external to backup my 120GB internal on my MBP. The external is down to only 200GB free and this is after about 2 weeks. Then again I move around large files.
You can have it exclude specific folders as well if you want or not backup any system files, but it is set on a one hour timer for automatic backups. If you are going to use it over the air disk on the new APExtreme then I would let it backup overnight that way it can work while you sleep.
To Military Police:
You’re too kind.
(Yes, I noticed it too. It was probably the parentheses.)
WildGuessMan:
Nice guess but mine is 11:59 pm PST, October 31st, 2007.
Maybe it will restore my MacBook battery to full health and get the stains off my palm rests and maybe even fix the crack in the casing just above the IR receiver.

And if you’ve got the bucks, go for 10.5TB!

That’s a lot of iTunes downloads.

Don’t most people expect the launch of Leopard to happen at the Apple Expo in Paris at the end of September?
Capt. Kirk:
In a word… NO!
finally! an OS that goes to 11!
(someone had to say it)
Wow. Just the news about the new release made my G4 snappier, my icons clearer and my mouse how reacts to thought. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Nice to see that
MacDude/GlossyScreensCauseCVS accidentally posted with his regular handle – Mike C.
Does “vast developer community” mean anything like “vast right-wing conspiracy”?
Nice catch, you win a prize…
Why would you disrespect your mother like that? Those were our special times, and you put them all over the internet for your “friends” to see?
Looks like mommy needs to teach you a lesson. See you in the shower tonight.
@ macaholic
