  1. I agree with peaPod! I cannot stand blind loyalty, no matter what the product or the company.

    I love everything Apple, but when a products sucks (i.e. iMovie ’08), then it is are obligation to express this to Apple and others.

    I wish the blind followers would open their eyes. If they had their way, we would be stuck on version 1.0 of every product (as it would be perfect for them).

    If I’m whining, then so be it. I’ll have some cheese too with my whine!

  2. @Thomas:

    “Finally, calling someone a “fanboi”, (and especially to spell it “boi” ) is so 2005.”
    =======================

    Thomas, saying something is “so 2005” is so overtly cliche, it is comical. You need to stop that, or all your boyfriends will bitch slap you soon.

    And Bud Whyz er, your final decision is even more irrelevant that Ya. Go to bed.

  3. People typically complain when things change. Humans are naturally afraid of ‘different’, and it will take time for some to clearly see the massive advancements made in iMovie 08.

    iMovie 08 is way ahead of iMovie 06. How? Lets see: Far better organisation, far quicker interaction, no rendering and non-destructive editing – what’s not to like?

    Instead of complaining about iMovie 08, why don’t you give it a try?

    If you use iMovie 08 for video editing and GarageBand for the sound edit – you can make very pro stuff super quickly – Much faster and easier than iMovie 06.

  4. The new iMovie 08 is MUCH better for cutting up sports footage! Having 2 45 minute halves trying to find the good moments is hard, iMovie 08 makes it sooooooooooo much easier. I can then export those highlight and use with another video product

  5. How is using two programs – ie. iMovie ’08 AND Garageband more efficient to make a movie. That’s a fallacious argument – so I import footage, then export the audio to process separately and that is somehow better AND more efficient than what I used to be able to do in the one application that was called the same as the new application – this new application, though called the same thing, removes features that the old program had and that I used.

    Next: Garageband threatens Soundtrack or Logic Express, so Apple dumbs that down and restricts the feature set – or iDVD competes too directly with DVD studio Pro, so Apple restricts what you can do with the new version … Where does it end?!

    It may not be a big deal to you that the previous version of iMovie is on life-support and available as a free download for users of the new version (for how long?) and you may not be intelligent enough to use the previous version – the fact is, many developers are now out in the cold on a whim of Steve Jobs, and many users feel let down that a brilliant, easy to use, extremely powerful software package has been dumbed-down for the lowest common denominator … ie. those of you who don’t notice that certain transitions are gone, are not adjustable, or the fact that your audio tracks are now limited, or that you have no effects …

    You people are who the new iMovie is pitched at. Apple should never have called it the same name. It is disingenuous to pitch it as an upgrade to a pre-existing program when it clearly lacks features that the previous version had.

    Apple: If you wish to End Of Life a product, do it honestly and transparently not in this underhanded manner.
