Apple shares reclaim a bit of lost ground in afternoon trading

Apple Inc. (AAPL) reclaimed a bit of lost ground in afternoon NASDAQ trading, up $1.72, or 1.31%, to $133.48 after the stock was upgraded to “Buy” from “Hold” by Citigroup, citing Tuesday’s significant pullback.

Citigroup kept its price target unchanged at $160 while saying in a note to investors that rumored iPhone and iPod production cuts in Asia should not come as a surprise to investors and that such cuts would reflect normal channel inventory clearance ahead of new product introductions in August and September.

Yes, fake Apple rumors should come as no surprise to investors.

Microsoft’s Windows operating systems has a vise-like grip on most organizations. But does that make it the best option for businesses? One chief information officer tested six different operating systems – Windows XP, Mac OS X, and four versions of Linux – to find out what was the right for his company.

John Halamka, CIO for CareGroup, a healthcare organization, and Harvard Medical School, which is affiliated with CareGoup’s hospitals, is responsible for the tech needs of 40,000 employees and nine million patients, so this wasn’t a decision to be taken lightly. Halamka’s experience with each operating system has been serialized in CIO Magazine, which just printed his final decision.

The result? Halamka’s going with a combination of everything. He doesn’t like Windows; Microsoft pre-loads it with so many features – most of which no one will ever use – that it ends up harming performance and creating security flaws. But, he tells CIO, it isn’t practical to replace all the computers running Windows either. Still, he’s trying to keep his investment in Windows to a minimum. He isn’t planning to upgrade CareGroup’s computers to Vista, Microsoft’s latest operating system, until it’s time to replace the current ones, for example.

Halamka loves Apple’s Mac OS X. His trial convinced him to use a Mac at home and he has promised to provide better support to designers and other people who use Macs in the organization. He also feels that some versions of Linux, notably Novell’s SUSE and Canonical’s Ubuntu (which is now available commercially on Dell PCs),

  2. “New rumor, the new keyboard is the iMac in side, just plug it into a 30″ display WOW”

OMG I dont know if I think that would be cool or suck… cool i think.

I can just hear the stupid PC fanboys spreading rumors that just an Apple keyboard costs 700$.

  3. Nope.

Though it sounds nice. There is no way the new iMac keyboard is the actual computer too. Far too thin of a form factor – people!!!

Besides, some good connections have stated that the housing of the new iMac has less of it’s CHIN… where the HD is in the present model.

But if this rumor of a keyboard computer is true… Commador64/Vic did many many years ago.

Personally, me no like this concept.
When my keyboard dies… I to take my whole computer into service…. what!!!!

  4. “New rumor, the new keyboard is the iMac in side, just plug it into a 30″ display WOW”

Uh, no. That would require the purchase of a separate display. The very concept of the iMac is All-In-One.

“just plug it into a 30″ display” defies the purpose.

  5. That’s much better than a mini. I heard they are goinjg to call it the Amiga 5000. Also a tower version will let you add as many processers as you want using the transputer concept. You will be able to add as many as 16 processers, even different processers, and the system will have no problem. Make it as powerfull as you want.
