  1. The stock, she goes up, or the stock, she goes down?

Two high school seniors that I know surprised me by saying that they’ve both just bought Macs. For one of the two, his dad bought him a $3,000 Windows laptop just over a year ago. It was supposed to be the college computer.

In the physical world apples fall from the tree, but in the stock world AAPL seems bound to keep rising into the canopy. Still, I keep a 15% stop order running. Can’t be too careful.

  2. You don’t need to be an analyst to predict what will happen. Earnings will be very good (better than expected), and some preliminary iPhone sales numbers will be announced which will be great.

The stock price will fall, because that’s the way Apple stock works. Up on rumors, down on news.

“The stock price will fall, because that’s the way Apple stock works. Up on rumors, down on news.” If I’m not mistaken I think it did buck the trend last time by going way up… We’ll see what happens this time around. Otherwise this could be the next buying opportunity to add to your position. By the end of 2008 137 is going to seem like a bargain!

  4. I predict an Apple stock drop and then a rebound, as profit-takers cautiously (and smartly) take their margin and put money in the bank. It’s not rocket science. Investors who’ve seen their stock rise considerably have an immediate profit to take. Sure, the stock might rise more, but the profit NOW is already guaranteed. Why take a risk?
When the stock settles lower (an “adjustment”, or “correction”), those who see that Apple is strong and getting stronger will buy at the discount rate and Apple’s stock will continue its rise.

    But I could be wrong.

  5. …actually, I should have said, “… after the Apple’s quarterly announcement, I predict a bump in the stock price, and THEN the profit-taking.

(But seriously, don’t ever take investment advice from an anonymous on-line post! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” /> or Laura Goldman.)

  6. I monitor thusly: when the stock is rising significantly, I refresh apple.com/investor/ like crazy for as long as it lasts. Gives me a chubby. heh. Then when it starts going down .. I just don’t look anymore. Simple. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  7. heh. yup. and my bookmark for it in Safari is old. and my Mac is old. and I’m old, too … but current. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
