We’re taking the day off to hang out with family and friends, show off our iPhones, watch fireworks, and celebrate Independence Day (United States).

    I’m grateful this morning to wake up and remember dreaming of iPhones . . . . . yes iPhones (i’m so glad it’s not a stupid clamshell like in my dream; you know how dreams can be)

    Only our free and great country provides that.

  2. And on this glorious day, we celebrate 231 years out from the yolk of the United Kingdom. Those pesky British! With their 0.5 percent sales tax on tea! Good riddance, I say! Let’s blow some stuff up in the yard with the other rednecks.

  5. Happy July 4th everyone!!! Ironically, I flew out of Philly yesterday (where the Declaration of Independence was written – if you have never been to visit the house in Philadelphia where Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration, you have to go. It is amazing to see such a piece of history. Anyway, I digress) and flew back home to Cincinnati. Hanging out with the family today!

    I’ve always thought as a gesture of gratitude towards the French for the help they offered the Colonist, regardless of their motivations at the time, that Francais should have been made the other official language of the new State as of July 5, 1776.

    LOL, don’t beat me up too badly! And for goodness sake, let’s hope our English and French readers don’t try to reenact Waterloo II, the web version!

    Why was Jefferson such a hypocrite? Just curious. It seems Ben Franklin would be more of a hypocrite. He started the U.S. mail so he could ship things more cheaply in his import-export business. There was NO selflessness in his act at all!

    Thomas Jefferson was at least cool and forward thinking enough to bang a few of his black slaves – hats off to you T.J. for splittin’ some mahogany!!!

  8. It’s kind of strange that you can’t just have a simple “Happy July 4th” wish without the anti-American crowd showing their usual class and turning it into a bitching session. Lefty slobs, all of them. Most are probably in their early 20’s – you know, that age where you think you know everything, yet know very little. And any that are older than that are probably permanently dumb.

    It’s also kind of insteresting with this crowd how you can never acknowledge all of the positive contributions of this country. Only the faults, which half the time is what they perceive to be “faults”. You’d think that every other f**king country on this earth was a model of perfection.

    The iPhone has its flaws and shortcomings. Right? But does the good of this phone outweigh the “bad”. If you’re Thurott, Enderle, or Dvorak, the bad outweighs the good. But if you’re a normal person with your head screwed on straight, the positive definitely outweighs the negative. Well, it’s the same with the America. But weakminded lefties can’t see it, because they don’t think for themselves, and they let their opinions be molded by the fashions of political correctness. And currently, it is fashionable to bash the U.S. Just like some people aggressively *want* to bash the iPhone, so too do some people want to do the same when it comes to America.

    The moral preening, the self righteousness, the holier-than-thou-ness, the Michael Moore-ness, the fallaciousness, it’s all pretty pathetic and barf-inducing. I guess what I’m trying to say is that to all those who turned this into a America-bashing session, kiss my proud American ass!

    ron,regardless of the way Bush butchers the language, the correct expression of that is: May the deity you so primitively worship be perceived as treating your nation-state with favoritism.
