Apple Retail Store coming to Lehigh Valley Mall (Pennsylvania)

“Time was when the words ‘apple store’ made most people in the Lehigh Valley think of a farm stand,” Kurt Blumenau reports for The Morning Call.

“That’s about to change. Apple Inc., which created the Macintosh computer and iPod personal music player, plans to open one of its retail Apple Stores at the Lehigh Valley Mall,” Blumenau reports.

“The Cupertino, Calif., tech company recently began posting help-wanted ads on its Web site for a new store at the Whitehall Township mall. The Valley’s largest shopping center is building a 110,000-square-foot upscale addition, which is slated to open in August,” Blumenau reports.

“The Whitehall store would be Apple’s fifth in Pennsylvania, and first outside the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh areas. The company has 181 stores around the world,” Blumenau reports.

“An Apple Store spokeswoman said Tuesday the company has made no announcement about a Lehigh Valley store. In the past, the company has said it does not talk about stores until a week or two before they open,” Blumenau reports. “Hershey said an Apple representative would not tell her when the local store might open.”
