Microsoft issues Vista patch to fix issue with Apple iPod

“Microsoft released several patches for Windows Vista on Tuesday, including one designed to put the iPod and the new operating system back on speaking terms,” Ina Fried reports for CNET News.

“The software maker issued a patch that is designed to fix a problem that had left iPods vulnerable to being corrupted if Vista users select the operating system’s ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ option to eject the music player,” Fried reports.

Fried reports, “Apple had resolved several Vista compatibility issues in iTunes, but has continued to warn users to only use the eject function within iTunes to remove an iPod in Vista.”

  1. “That would be the ultimate egg in the face of Microshaft!”

Given that the iPod is primarily a Windows peripheral, it would be egg on the face of Apple more than Microsoft.

In terms of sales, they’d be better to discontinue the Mac version of iTunes and concentrate on making the Windows version work properly and give it a less clunky interface.

  2. This is a false report, or if it isn’t false might be inaccurrate. I have Vista Ultimate and an iPod, no such update is available.
You guys are funny, drinkin the Apple Cool-aid has your brains in a bunch. I;m a long time Mac user and I’m giving Windows a try, sure it has it’s faults but it’s niot as bad as you all make it out to be
