Apple has begun “distributing the first external software compile of Mac OS X 10.4.9 to members of its Apple Developer Connection,” AppleInsider reports.
AppleInsider reports, “Apple reportedly asked developers to focus their testing efforts on system components such as .Mac connectivity, Bluetooth, Bonjour, FireWire, Graphics and USB. Other areas of testing singled out by the Mac maker included Adobe Flash, Automator, Dashboard Widgets, Fonts, iChat video conferencing and iSync.”
AppleInsider reports, “Mac OS X 10.4.9 is also said to focus heavily on enhancements to various synching technologies, bundling fixes for Mac and syncing, Sync Services Engine, Sync Services and .Mac Sync, and rsync and extended attributes.”

That is the single most annoying bug in the OS, IMO.
By the way, is anyone else having issues with iTunes 7 occasionally not opening? As in, it is running with an active memory ‘bubble’ visible in Activity Monitor, but nothing I do can make it open OR quit. I can force quit it with Activity Monitor, and it goes away in the list, but it is still listed in the dock as being open (arrow beneath it).
So, I log out of my account and log back in… alas… my iTunes library file is now corrupted. That was about 3 weeks ago. I just finished recreating all my playlists, ratings, and play counts (approximately 9 HOURS of work for my 21 GB library).
Guess what just happened AGAIN last night? Yep. However, I completely lost my trust for iTunes the last time this happened and backed up my entire library to my Seagate drive (as I usually do, but I had reformatted it just before this happened the first time).
This is an extremely critical problem, and one which has forced me to be in such fear of it happening again, that I am going to have to back up my library every week.
Can anyone tell me what might be going on? I am running iTunes 7.0.4 on Mac OS 10.4.8 on a last-gen iBook G4 with 100 GB HD and 1 GB of RAM. iTunes always does this when it is idle (nothing was going on in iTunes before it starting getting janky… I was just reading news and mail).
