Incipio has debuted the “iPod ShuffleBud” which allows 2nd generation iPod shuffle owners to easily connect an iPod shuffle to any USB port without having to use Apple’s iPod shuffle Dock (included with your iPod shuffle).
Supporting full speed USB transfer rates, the iPod ShuffleBud is a nice travel companion, taking up virtually no space in a bag or pocket. There’s no need to haul around the Dock and cables that came with your iPod Shuffle, just pack the iPod ShuffleBud and you’re all set.
The iPod ShuffleBud also comes with a lanyard loop on the side so you can attach it to backpack or laptop case and weighs in at 5.6 grams and measures 47mm X 16mm.
Incipio’s “iPod ShuffleBud” retails for US$5.99.
More info here.
the non USB plug issue didn’t take long to fix, did it!
And only $5.99!
How about a carrying case that can store the Shuffle, adapter, and ear buds?
Now that is a well designed, simple and effective addition to the iPod ecosystem!!
Yay! I have a reason to buy the shuffle again!
WOO HOO! I’ve been waiting for this. I’ll be ordering mine today. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Nice little addon with a nice little price. If it cost so little to make, though, Apple shoulda tossed one in the box to begin with. With their scale it would have added a whole buck to the price.
I can’t believe that Apple missed this one. I am envious of the mind that came up with such an elegant approach to an uncharacteristically messy interface implementation from Apple.
I’d love this, but I hate to buy something for $5.99 and then pay $4.99 for shipping…
Notice the adapter is “Full Speed USB” that is marketing speak for super slow 1st-gen 12 Mbps USB. The original Apple iPod shuffle adapter is “high speed USB”. The hardware of the shuffle can only achieve transfer rates of about 36 Mbps, but still a lot better than the maximum that this crippling USB adapter will allow.

Should have done it aluminum finish to match the Shuffle.
Hopefully, the Apple Store or iPod dealers will soon carry this item; that’ll save the $4.99 shipping charge. Perhaps vendors like MacMall and MacConnection, who often bundle extras with their iPods (since they rarely discount the price) will throw one in. I expect this item to sell very well.
I call Bullshit on this one.
It’s obviously Photoshopped.
Get real people.
I agree, Fake, it’s obviously a crappy fake-job. They can’t even spell “clumsy” on their website, how the hell can we trust them?
Since the Shuffle is 1GB and can only hold about 240 songs, it really doesn’t make much of a difference whether it’s USB 1 or 2, it’s not going to take long to fill it either way. Now if we were talking about filling your 8GB nano or your 30GB ipod at USB 1.0 speeds, that would be a big problem.
Not Photoshopped. In stock and shipping today. We encourage those of you who have tracking numbers, speak up. Sorry about the typo, it’s fixed now.
Zune does it all.
I would be wary of this item. You can’t really tell from the pictures, but it looks like it might just spin around on the headphone jack, if it has nothing to secure it in place. That would place a strain on the connector. Unless it has some kind of nub or spline that fits into the iPod clip, and prevents it from spinning…
It’s just a mini USB to USB adaptor that you can buy at any local computer store people. Save yourself the emotional trama over this. It’s not that big of a deal.
I’m sorry mini plug to USB adaptor.
If it were running @ usb full speed, that means the fastest it could get 1GB worth of music on this guy would be 12min. I’m sorry Jooop, that’s just way too long when it’d be normally 4min. Also, I really don’t know where I can find a minijack to usb adapter, that seems kinda like a niche product Mr. Just Info.
It’s a neat product, but the first of many, everyone and their mother will be selling one of these soon.
Sweet! That was fast, actually, and NICE PRICE.
Guess I’ll put that in my own stocking for Christmas ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
Apple’s design isn’t a “messy interface implementation”.
Its genius is that they removed the USB/data transfer portion specifically to minimize the size of the player.
If, like most people, you spend 98% of your time with a shuffle away from the computer it makes no sense to “lug” around (I know, it’s tiny, but still) the extraneous USB portion just for those scant times you do data transfer.
Now, Apple should have made a tiny adapter to go along with it, I won’t miss not being able to do dongle-free data transfer relative to having a smaller shuffle.
I assume Apple did research (as agrees with my retail experience) that indicated that most users (Windows based podTards – bless them and their billions of dollars) had no clue it could even be used as a flash drive anyway.
Sucks for the rest of us though. Add that to eliminating FireWire from the iPod and having them ship formatted for PC. ::shudder::
I mean: Now, Apple should have made a tiny adapter to go along with it, I agree. But I don’t miss being able to do dongle-free data transfer relative to having a smaller shuffle.
