“For every Apple product we see on the shelves, there are dozens that never make it to production. Sometimes, these rare gems surface on the web for us to take a look at, and ponder what might have been. Scouring through the interweb, I’ve compiled this list of 5 Apple products that only the most hardcore of hardcore MacAddicts have ever stumbled across,” Michael writes for Apple Gazette. “Surprisingly, some of these products, over 10 years old, are still being speculated about in one form or another to this day.”
5. Apple PowerBop (1993): Apple’s first Powerbook with wireless Internet Access (GMS based).
4. Apple Paladin: All-in-one computer, fax machine, scanner, and phone.
3. W.A.L.T. (Wizzy Active Lifestyle Telephone) (early 1990’s): Portable screen-based Telephone right out of the Jetsons with PDA functions.
2. Apple Videophone PDA: Moble videophone that could also sync (exchange of data, work interactively) with PDA functionality.
1. Apple PenLite: Macintosh PowerBook Duo Tablet.
More info and photos in the full article here.
I would have liked to have the PenLite.
Oh, yeah First Post.
I like the name “PowerBop.” Would be cool to own anything so named.
“Hey Baby, pass your CatDaddy his PowerBop, hear what I’m sayin?”
As usual. Apple ahead of its time in some way or form.

Did they say Wizzy?
Wasn’t PowerBop the name of one of the Rock’m Sock’m Robots? Yeah, PowerBop and Puss’nCry. Good times.
Hey, look, the iPhone!
Oh my god, the ContentLink links in the text are breeding and multiplying! Pop-ups and double underlines are attacking my eyes!! Aaagh! The horror! The horror!
those darn popover ads are an eyesore usually, but today on this article they are a PAIN IN THE A**. Because I can’t even click on some of the links to see what is being linked to – all I get is the ad page!
Fix this MDN. It’s not helpful and makes users upset!
MDN: “total”, as in MDN should think about the total experience of the readers and check their stuff out before posting it!
ok so I see from the page source that those are not real links in the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 list.
Damn i hate those doubleunderlines
What I want to know about are the prototypes that Jonathan Ive killed because he didn’t think they were good enough.
