BaldGeeks release Geo-Calc 2.0

BaldGeeks today announced the release of Geo-Calc 2.0, a major update to their comprehensive geometry calculator for Mac OS X.

Geometry problems are common in a variety of situations, from construction, modelling and design, to DIY (such as estimating the quantity of carpet, paint, or titles required). Geo-Calc makes easy work of these sorts of
tasks, as well as being a useful educational tool. Aiming to be the ‘Swiss Army knife’ of geometry applications, Geo-Calc has attracted a broad user-base which includes teachers, students, builders, designers, engineers,
mathematicians, and even rocket scientists!

Geo-Calc works out all the measurements (area, perimeter, sides, angles, etc.) of common geometric shapes. A scaled drawing of each calculated shape is shown with a graph paper background in one drawer, while another shows a history of your previous calculations. A definition of each shape and the different ways to perform the calculations is also provided.

Geo-Calc’s shapes include an ellipse, rectangle, triangle, trapezium, parallelogram, polygon, prism, cylinder, cone, pyramid and sphere.

Included in Geo-Calc is an extensive amount of help, provided through the Apple Help Viewer and also from within the application. If the entered values do not describe a valid geometrical figure, error messages pop up hi-lighting the specific problem and suggesting solutions.

“We’re (BaldGeeks) strong advocates of quality shareware, and believe that developing for the Mac is all about the small details”, explained Pete Harris, cofounder of BaldGeeks, via email. “We set out to make Geo-Calc as easy to use and as useful as possible. Geo-Calc is a great tool for solving geometry problems, I just wish I had something like this when I was at school!”

What’s new in Geo-Calc 2.0:
• Geo-Calc is now a Universal Binary
• Tape drawer listing previous calculations
• Graphics drawer containing a scaled rendering of both 2D and 3D shapes
• Improved support for Spotlight

Geo-Calc 2.0 costs $14.99 and requires 10.3.9 or later. There is a fully functioning demo mode.

Geo-Calc is currently localised in English, German, and Norwegian. Volume licensing (for education) is available on request.
