Only Microsoft would have the cojones to hold a contest to guess the launch date of a product that’s slipped so much and so often (and shed so many of its originally-promised features) that it’s become an industry joke. Plus, doesn’t the first place prize violate Article 5 of the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights?

  1. The second to forth prizes also violate that article. No one should have to suffer a XBOX 360 crash.

To top that off, I must ask: are they asking the first versions to come out, the one for the commputer with new special feature comming out like 3 years after the original or the patch that’ll make it a half-( ok, ok, quarter-) good operating system?

  2. there’s only one correct answer possible…

    never! it will never ship!

how can i tell? well… since the most obvious that you should be able to win is:

    Windows Vista!

and that is not listed… because they know it will never ship and therefor can’t be offered as a price for the contest.

    logic? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  3. Just anooooother looooooong wait for the more reduce features of ‘Long’horn

Might as well waiting for Leopord, the next upgrade of Tiger.

Just wondering, after Leopard, which cat comes next? Could it be Azlan, the Lion?

  4. COMING UP NEXT:

Guess when the first VISTA virus will be released! Oops, trick question: there’s some out already! Hey, Microsoft, here’s an idea: hire the virus writers to write your next OS, maybe they’ll be able to meet a deadline!

  5. Yes! You heard it here first, folks! Guess the date (like we have ANY clue whatsoever) and we’ll rush, rush, RUSH to get it finished- cutting whatever corners [we havn’t cut already] and making YOU the first person to own the FIRST Windows Vista Box!!!!! Wow0ow0ow0ow0ow0wo! ThE tEnSiOn Is MoUnTiNgGgGg!

    Cupertino, start your photocopiers (ha!)

  6. Hey dont knock the operating system until you have tried it. I tried Windows 95, didn’t like it. I tried Windows 98 didn’t like it. I tried Windows Millennium, didn’t like it. I tried Windows XP, didn’t like it either. Then I tried Mac OS X and I liked it. Well whatever works for you, is what you should go with, and not knock anyone who seems to like a cheaper priced computer with a little hiccups and viruses. Some people like their girls the same way.

  7. typhoon,

Interesting twist to the Zager & Evans tune (Exordium & Terminus).

Some of us (ol’ geezers) get it.

MaWo: ‘place’. As in, “Microsoft will eventually be put in theirs.”
