Report: Apple to release Mac OS X 10.4.3 soon

“With nearly all of its hardware introductions now out of the way, Apple for the rest of the year will focus on completing a few select software updates destine for all of its Macintosh customers. The first of these updates will be Mac OS X 10.4.3, which represents the third maintenance release to the company’s Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger operating system,” AppleInsider reports.

“According to sources and reports already present on the Internet, Apple over the weekend seeded Mac OS X 10.4.3 build 8F45, which weighs in just shy of 100MB in Combo Update form. The pre-release software appears free of issues and could be released in a matter of days,” AppleInsider reports.

  1. “I think many of those problems are caused by diddling with the system and file structure too much. I don’t do too many tweaks to my system.”

That’s what assumptions will get you. I’ve updated within a day every update and have had no problems until QT7.0.3. I don’t have any mods or haxies and I do regular system maintenance. And I don’t mess with the file structure; hell, I don’t even know what you mean by that.

  2. Oh the hypocrisy of the readers on this web site. If Bill Gates had just announced the third set of bug fixes to Windows XP in 6 months, with the latest featuring over 500 fixes, you’d all be ranting and raving. When Steve Jobs does the same, it’s somehow OK. Gotta laugh really.

  3. Hypocritical? How so? I don’t believe any reasonable person expects any OS on Mac or PC will ever reach “perfection” and no longer needs updating. Hackers are simply too clever. The difference is that Apple tends to be proactive while Microsoft is reactive. So where Apple tweaks for performance and new features, M$ is busy plugging security holes.

And, by the way, my PC informed me that there were several “Updates” available for download and installation today when I booted it up. And the updated software doesn’t have a number like 10.4.3 because M$ has so many security updates that they’ed run out of decimal places. Ha!

  4. REALITY CHECK: Take your own advise and get a truck load, you need it!

You’re comparing apples to lemons (pun intended).

When M$ puts out updates it’s an emergency, to stop every windows box in the known world from melting down from a known virus alert. AND you have to wait 5 years for a new OS (That still stinks).

Apple puts out regular Security Updates and real product enhancements, but there are NO KNOWN VIRISES FOR OSX, YOU MORON!! And we get a new state of the art OS every 18 months.

Go back to your ignorant, 5th rate, virus infested, boring, ugly, unproductive, sh*t hole of a windows world and leave us to our “hypocricy”. You are not welcome.

  5. I say let’s let RC/Reality Check post; he’s a valuable member of the community in the sense that he posts opinions that make us see more clearly why we sit on the side of the fence that we do.

Just don’t let his flames burn into your hearts. Take his comments less seriously. Indeed, let’s not allow his comments pull our forums off course. Perhaps if we are nicer to him, he too will be nicer in his postings.
