AC Research analyst: Apple’s Q4 2005 guidance ‘too conservative,’ reiterates ‘accumulate’ rating

“Analyst Henning Wagener of AC Research reiterates his ‘accumulate’ rating on Apple Computer,” newratings.com reports. “Apple Computer’s PC sales increased from 876,000 to 1.2 million units, the analyst says. This implies that the company’s PC sales grew three times faster than the broader PC market, the analyst points out. Apple Computer was, therefore, able to stop the erosion of its PC market share, the analyst mentions.”

“AC Research does not consider Apple Computer’s stock inexpensive,” newratings.com reports. “On the other hand, the strong sales development of the iPod music player is expected to continue throughout the forthcoming months, the analyst says. Apple Computer’s guidance for the fourth quarter appears too conservative, and the company could positively surprise the financial markets, the analyst believes.”

  1. It just makes sense, back to school and christmas is right around the corner, it’s not going to slow down anytime soon. Kids are going to want new computers that work for back to school, and they want iPods, then there is Christmas…remember last christmas…I smell new sales records folks and that means record stock gains…again. Buy apple now and double your money by the end of the year!

  2. doc:

That sounds like the soundest financial advice I have read about Apple all this week!

MDN word – Earlier – as in, I wish I had bought Apple Stock Earlier…

  3. Looks like they’re getting the picture. Of course, it’s looked like that before, too. Bout time, regardless. You would think they would actually want to make money, perhaps. Maybe? .. just maybe? … lol.

  4. we have absolutely no data yet telling us how our PPC mac sales are going to be hurt by our Intel announcement.

The only prudent and ethical thing to do would be for us to downlplay future sales, esp. in the first full quarter after the announcement, with Intel Macs being less than a year away.

It is very reasonable to assume and therefore, to plan on, a downturn in Mac purchases until the Intel macs show up. I know a lot of people who have been told to “hold off on Powerbooks an d Minis until early next year” because those are the first models assumed to go to Intel.

These are also some of the most popular Back To School models.

This means that no one, not even I, can say how severe the slowdown could occur for the next 3 quarters, if any. By their very nature, SEC filings are supposed to be conservative and 100% truthful.

Now, if you want optimism of Biblical proportions, go look at SCO’s filings of late…

  5. anyone else totally fed up with this endless parade of financial speculation? can we have some actual “news” or is mdn contractually obliged to publish every half-arsed financial analyst’s postulative witterings?

  6. oh and while i’m here and totally fed up, how dare you mdn, include “musical” advertisements on your website? i am referring to the crazy frog bollocks. it’s a total intrusion and a breach of trust. if anything would stop me coming here to get my news from here, even more than the financial bullshit, it’s that kind of nonsense. stop it immediately.

  7. hahahah TOO CONSERVATIVE… right on guys.. way to base future projections on.. EARNINGS THAT WERE RELEASED MERE DAYS AGO…

it took a while but the analysts finally realized that last quarter was a huge success for Apple… knowing that BEFORE they announced the figures would have been EVEN BETTER.. ah well.. i guess the stock market really is a crap shoot.. i mean .. if these 6-figure analysts don’t know a damn thing.. then i guess no one does! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  8. Wow, somebody finally caught on to Apple’s “Underpromise, Overdeliver” tactics? I wonder if some of the smarter analysts don’t come to MDN to get the inside view. There were a lot of comments to the effect on an article just a little while ago.

  9. Fedup: Regarding the “endless parade of financial speculation,” if you don’t like it, don’t read it. It’s that simple.

Oh, and while I’m here… Fedup: Regarding ads which annoy you, that’s why God invented FireFox, Adblock, and FlashBlock.
