“Two teenagers were under arrest Sunday on suspicion of killing another teen for his iPod portable music player, police said. The boys were facing charges of murder, robbery and weapons possession in the death of 15-year-old Christopher Rose, police said,” The Associated Press reports. “Rose and three friends were accosted by a group of young men Saturday evening in Brooklyn, police said. Members of the group demanded Rose’s iPod and stabbed him twice in the chest when he resisted.”

MacDailyNews Take: It isn’t the iPod, just like it wasn’t the Nike Air Jordans that people were murdered over in years past. Some people are desperate. Some people are stupid. Some people are jealous, evil, vicious, sad, pitiful, selfish or any number of things all rolled into one. Throw the book at them. And throw it hard, so that others who have no self-worth and therefore do not value the lives of others might think twice before attempting such wasteful, ignorant acts. Neglectful parents, meanwhile, should get to work instilling self-worth into their children. Others would probably serve the world best by concentrating on making our french fries crispy and hot and by not having children that they’re incapable of raising properly.
You know the real problem? Thge Supreme Court just ruled that software companies can be sued if their products are used to download music illegally, even if the software also has legitimate uses. However, Republicans and the NRA are shielding gun companies from liability for the illegal use of their products, and don’t give me any 2nd amendment crap. Handguns neither existed nor could have been anticipated when the Constitution was written.
Let the punishment fit the crime. An eye for an eye, that scum should die.
1. If you outlaw guns only the outlaws will have guns. This kid got stabbed anyway.
2. Only if they promote the “software” to be used for illegal purposes can they be sued. Wrong ballpark. People kill because they want to, not because guns are available.
3. Why is everyone trying to upset the balance of this fine world of ours? Leave it be. There will always be a little of everything. Enjoy it and remember that if all the bad people go away life will be really borring.
“Thge Supreme Court just ruled that software companies can be sued if their products are used to download music illegally, even if the software also has legitimate uses.”
Actually what they ruled is that if the company makes the software with the apparent *intent* of allowing people to pirate music, the company can be held liable.
Not sure how that related to handguns.
lowie and nonameforme are both right.
“Handguns neither existed nor could have been anticipated when the Constitution was written.”
The same with iPods.
iPods are causing street crime, are getting people killed, and they should be immediately outlawed and confiscated. If this argument sounds absurd and smacking with irony, it is.
The government can already seize your property for any reason deemed “public use”, and incumbents (or at least parties) can keep themselves in office indefinitely through gerrymandering (allowing even more absurd laws and power/freedom grabs). What’s the difference if they take our music players too?
A lot of people get killed for a lot less. Humans are just scum sometimes.
OK, listen here, especially all you Arabs and Jews. Lex taliolis doesn’t work. What we need is more equal distribution of wealth. We need communism. We also need a system of observation, so that tape of the crime can be produced, and all acts of violence eradicated.
I bet that some of the justices of the Supreme Court responded to this story by suggesting that the price of iPods be lowered.
But we had it coming, anyway.
Socities that create violence are themselves violent.
The people that wrote the 2nd Ammendment did not intention pistols. They intentioned low caliber, single-shot rifles. What we have today is a perversion of those intentions, as are contemporary interpretations of copyright.
Copyright law has been on the steady decline since 1976, and will get even worse with the neo-Cons sweeping into the Supreme Court.
It seems that those guys were members of “A well regulated Militia…”

First of all… this isnt a race issue. you flaming racist fags need to shut the hell up.
Secondly, victims AND thieves have been of ALL nationalites involving iPod and cell phone theft in recent months on the train system…
Thirdly… this has not much to do with Apple, save for it being the object stolen. Thats what happens where a society pushes more ideals about the image and popularity of a material item, than anything else.
