“Ines Lenzi loves listening to tunes on her sleek, stylish iPod. What she hates is when the batteries run out after only three hours of play,” Allison Hanes reports for The Montreal Gazette. “The Montreal woman this week decided to take a step down the trail blazed recently by a group of fellow followers of the digital music craze in California. She filed an action in Quebec Superior Court seeking certification for a class action lawsuit against Apple Canada Inc., the maker of the iconic iPod.”

Thanks Rick. Point taken.
I guess I was just trying to say that ‘San Francisco, it isn’t’ here in Montreal. I’ve been to that city recently too, btw. iPods galore, for sure. You feel it’s iPods galore in here Montreal too? ok.
We disagree, however.
I guess people forget that batteries die. Jobs’ RDF cannot change the laws of physics. I know we all think our iPods are perfect and will last forever, but get real folks, everyone’s iPod battery will die. If you would like, I can send everyone one of my electrical engineering books that goes over batteries in great detail. Maybe that’ll shed some light on how different types of batteries work (and are designed).
Stupid litigious society.
Hey gwm.. we shall agree to disagree.. there could be a lot more iPod in the city of Montreal if there were MORE apple resellers and a nice Apple store corner Ste-Catherine and let say Mc Gill College (just picked any street here)
R.
We agree. I’m just selfish. I want to see Macs for sale in EVERY electronics outlet in this city. I mean .. these retailers are squirrley up here, Rick. There are stores in Saint Leonard with a big ‘Apple’ up on the signage on the store front .. but the clerks laugh when you go in to try to buy a Mac. ‘Cause they don’t actually carry any Apple products .. and they never have.
(Can you tell I’m not a native, perchance? If that doesn’t get some Apple people finally looking around up here … I guess they just don’t read MDN).
You can buy a battery and kit with even longer life than the originals for $39. I can’t believe the court costs just to file the suit would be less. Let alone hire a freakin lawyer and have to go through all that B.S. Must be one of those I want to get rich quick people again. I wonder if she has a spare finger in the wings if the battery thing doesn’t work.
There is a good possibility that she left her iPod on the dashboard or in the glove box of her car on a sunny day. Interior temperatures can soar above 150 degrees F in short order. High temperatures will kill lithium ion batteries.
PEBIAC = Problem Exists Between iPod and Chair
Rick and gwm just get a room already you two!
Leave it to the Canadians to disagree without being disagreeable …
/is Canadian
//there are plenty of iPods in Toronto, so add that to the list of why it is a better city than Montreal
///supports adding Canada to the axis of evil if only to keep the Americans out
////ducks
Screw Quebec. Go back to France.
Toronto for Life!
“supports adding Canada to the axis of evil if only to keep the Americans out”
You may say that now, but you seem to forget that Apple is in California, so that would mean no iPods or Macs for us! As a fellow Canadian, I say we had better show a little appreciation for the USA every once in a while ok?

Have there been publicized class action suits against every other electronics manufacturer that uses rechargeable batteries? Looks like the lawyers have a cash cow on their hands. Leeches. Apple certainly didn’t make the batteries. They should go after the battery manufacturer to recoup some of the costs of fighting these parasites.
MW: price, as in “The price all of us have to pay to appease the greedy few…”
I thought the real problem with Canadians was “Terrance and Phillips”!

Canadians are so funny, eh?
I’m from Ohio and just in the last week received mail about joining a class-action lawsuit against Apple for battery problems associated with the 3G iPod that I bought the day after its introduction in May, 2003. My daughter now uses that 30GB iPod (without problems) after I upgraded to a 60GB iPod photo — I’m sure the battery doesn’t hold a charge compared to its original performance, but it’s still well within acceptable limits. I promptly threw the notice into the trash!
Class-action lawsuit?? — GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! Another example of the greedy few (the plaintiff attorneys and their clients) trying to make an easy buck!!
Boy, Apple has sure got you guys brainwashed pretty bad. I have a 3 Gen Ipod and it will not hold a charge for more that 1 hr and a half and it has been that way since day one. I do NOT abuse the thing in any way. I only charge it when it actually dies and I only use it three times a week. It is a known fact that these batteries are faulty and since Apple sells the damn thing then they are responsible for it. Even though they claim that it should last 8 hrs (which is bullshit false advertising by the way but everyone does it so i did not expect it when I bought it) but 1 hr and a half????? I actually praise these people for standing up to Apple. Think about it, if no one cared to raise a stink to Apple, then all of the rest of the generation ipods would still have the same lousy battery.
