Hilton unveils alarm clock with iPod plug-in; launches online contest with Apple iTunes prizes

Ever get frustrated with the clock in a hotel room or worry about sleeping past the alarm in the morning? Starting this month, travelers who stay at the Hilton Family of Hotels won’t lose sleep over how to set the alarm clock ever again. The Hilton Family of Hotels created its own proprietary, custom-designed clock, featuring the “world’s easiest-to-set alarm” and an “industry-first plug-in for iPods” or other portable music devices.

Hilton has also released the “Hilton Family Timing is Everything Virtual Clock” software for Mac OS X and Windows.

Hilton is also featuring a contest online: “Timing is everything! You have 30 seconds to answer the timely questions below and click the submit button. Even if you don’t answer them all correctly, you still have a shot at winning a $10 iTunes gift certificate. Winners are selected at random.”

  1. Yes, but will it automatically snap and download pix of you having sex in your hotel room to your iPod photo and start a slide show out of it on every TV on your floor?

  2. Having tried to play their game, I have to say that their website sucks.

You have 30 seconds to answer 5 questions and the response is so slow that even if you hit the end button in time, it says you were too late.

The prizes are pretty lame too. They pulled out a load of bucks for this one!

  3. “The Hilton Family of Hotels created its own proprietary, custom-designed clock…”

Well, looks like I’ll have to stay at a Hilton soon, so that I can steal one. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  4. Taken from the the PRIZES section of the sweepstakes rules:

“TWO HUNDRED FIFTY (250) PHASE 3 PRIZES: a MP3 player ARV: $199 each.”

Why don’t they actually refer to the player as an Apple iPod mini? Does this allow them to substitute another player with the same approxiate value if they desire?

  5. Is it just my browser or has teh text wrapping gone crazy with MDN today and yesterday?

That story just keeps going and going, I have to scroll along 3 screens wide just to read it all.

  6. They say it’s about ‘Daylight Savings Time’. There is no such thing, it’s ‘Daylight Saving Time’ as in no ‘s’ at the end of ‘Saving’. Not very well fact checked.
