Apple Computer releases Security Update 2004-12-02

Apple Computer today released Security Update 2004-12-02 which delivers a number of security enhancements and is recommended for all Macintosh users, according to the Mac maker. This update includes the following components:

Apache
AppKit
HIToolbox
Kerberos
Postfix
PSNormalizer
Safari
Terminal

  1. I just want them to post a solution to the Bind DNS problem. It is most noticable in Safari when a site your visiting fails the first time around and then succeeds with a refresh/retry.

  2. Pete…I get the same thing. I found a “work-around” somewhere online…we run an internal forwarding DNS server using OSX Server – so our NAT private network resolves correctly.

    Anyway…the fix for this seems to be adding the DNS server’s IP twice in the preference pane – ie (if your DNS server IP is 10.10.10.2)

    10.10.10.2
    10.10.10.2

    It fixes it for the most part…unless you hit a site which is obscure.

  3. After installing this update, I was not able to log in to my computer. It froze at the last boot process message, “Creating login window” or somesuch. I had to reinstall from my Cds. That’s so windows, man…
