  1. Whoah! First post again? How could that happen? Where is everybody? I someone naked on television again? What’s going on? Oh man. Did something get bombed? Hello? Is anybody out there?

  2. A scroll wheel has been around in various forms for years… both mechanical and touch sensitive. I believe Apple has a patent pending on the “click” part of the wheel. Based on the photos, the Nokia doesn’t have this feature as there seems to be buttons at the four “corners” of the wheel. I should add that Apple may not have developed the click wheel. I seem to remember a story that said an outside company did the actual engineering… perhaps Apple had the idea, though. The wheel has nothing to do with iTunes.

The deal Apple made with Moto is widely misunderstood. You will not be able to purchase or download songs from the iTunes site directly to the cellphone. You’ll only be able to load a handful of songs from your iTunes library to the phone with special software developed by Apple. That’s it.

  3. Actually, the basic idea for the scroll wheel in the original iPod may well have come from Bang & Olufsen’s DECT phone from the mid/late Nineties.

It’s only the iPod mini/4G iPod control wheel that is claimed as “novel” by Apple.

  4. RE: scroll wheel…

I remember seeing a Steve Jobs keynote that mentioned how Apple had a patent on the scroll wheel itself. The clicking wheel came later. Apple CAN and SHOULD sue for they have a patent that is being infringed.

There is a reason we never see other manufacturer’s mp3 players with a scroll wheel that we know they want to implement. Apple will sue them.

  5. on fire. Feels so good. Steve Jobs is God. I love my G5 imac and ipod photo. Only Steve. He came back and changed everything. Turned the company around. Recouped 1 billion in losses. It’s only going 2 get more and more and better and better. Here’s to the ipod flash. Steve Jobs. I love you.
