‘New’ MacDailyNews.com coming soon

Thank you for your patience as we tie up loose ends and prepare to launch the “new” MacDailyNews.com (hopefully) today!

Over the last week or so, the “old” site has moved to new servers and has been upgraded from pMachine Pro 2.1 to pMachine Pro 2.3. The “new” MacDailyNews.com will be run with Expression Engine and our goal is to provide the exact same site – just faster and able to accommodate more concurrent users. We went to the “if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it” school of web redesign. We will have one or two slight additions, but you’ll see that they’re very subtle. Almost all of the changes are “under the hood,” not in how the site looks or works.

So, the site will be the same, just faster and better able to handle high traffic, and new updates will resume shortly. If all goes well, this is the last pMachine entry we’ll be making!

Most users won’t even notice the change, but we’ll let you know when it happens and tell you what’s new. Thank you for your patience and let us know if you encounter anything out of the ordinary with the site.

  1. I say the site CAN be simple but still improve a lot on the graphic design! How about a nice MDN banner at the top of the page? Something approaching an MDN logo would be attractive too. I can live with the ads BUT when they make up the total visual content of the site (with almost zero MDN content) then the impression is one big mess of adverts with a bit of text in the middle. It could be much better and have more impact.

  2. “You went with the LETS ADD MORE ADS PER PAGE web design. 19 ads perpage. YIKES.”

Good!!! Make money, support your family, and stick around!

BTW – I bought a 250 gig FireWire external hard drive from your “Other World Computing” ad here and I love it.
