Apple today released QuickTime 6.5.2 which the company says is an important release which includes a security update and bug fixes. In addition this release includes enhancements in the Apple Lossless Encoder and AAC codecs, as well as improved support for iTunes and other QuickTime-based applications.
QuickTime 6 includes these features:
– Create and play back industry-standard, high-quality, interoperable MPEG-4 audio and video content.
– Create and play back industry-standard mobile multimedia (3GPP and 3GPP2) content.
– Experience Instant On streaming, providing immediate access to media with no buffer delays. Combined with Skip protection, Apple’s patent-pending technology for minimizing interruptions or skips in streaming media, you’ll get a reliable, high-quality connection.
– Purchase the MPEG-2 Playback Component to add MPEG-2 playback support to QuickTime (available at store.apple.com).
