“Steve Jobs, the charismatic chief executive of Apple Computer Inc. and Pixar Animation Studios, is back on the job after undergoing cancer surgery,” The Associated Press reports. “Jobs attended a news conference Thursday to unveil a new Apple store at a shopping mall near Palo Alto, marking his first public appearance since he underwent a successful operation on his pancreas in late July. The 49-year-old executive took a monthlong leave to recuperate and quietly returned to work full-time in September.”
“‘I’m back, I’m back,’ he said with a smile to reporters shortly after pulling open a black curtain to reveal the sleek new store,” AP reports. “The Apple co-founder appeared healthy, wearing his usual black mock turtleneck and jeans. He made some brief opening remarks – never mentioning his illness – and smiled a few times as he proudly walked along the gleaming white floor of the store.”
AP reports, “In trading Thursday, Apple shares closed up $5.23, or 13.2 percent, at $44.98 on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The surge came a day after the company reported fourth-quarter profits that more than doubled on strong sales of laptop computers and its popular iPod music players.”

Nice to have you back, Stevie !
Now that our fearless leader is back 100%, I think the competition will have to start worrying more.
Steve isn’t going to let the wannabes try to take over the iPod, or anything else for that matter.
GO ON MY SON… GIVE THEM HELL…
Couldn’t have said it better myself, Mac Ed.
Cheers.
For some reason the tune Back in Black by AC/DC sprung to mind as I was reading that.
For those dooms sayers who had doubts when Steve Jobs returned to Apple many years ago, what have they got to say now? As for Jobs, he deserves a huge stand ovation for what he has accomplished!!! From the nay-sayers, they have achieved nothing!!!
DaveT,
Unfortunately, Microsoft has exclusive rights to AC/DC for at least a month.
What a bunch of sell-outs.

ACDCs music is crap anyway – so no loss there!
Nah…..Def Leppard would be more exclusive since they dont like to use their tunes for movies or commercials. Except for School of Rock in which Jack Black was able convince them to let them use one song. It was great!
