Potential uses for Apple ‘MoodMac’ seemingly endless

“It’s red when you’re amorous. Blue when you’re sad. Black when you’re downright angry. No, it’s not your mom’s mood ring, but maybe your next computer,” Rich Duprey writes for The Motley Fool. “Apple filed a patent application back in February that calls for a computer that can “alter its visible appearance” like a chameleon changing the hue of its skin. 1. did anyone get the Thurrott reference to the Dell XPS gaming towers…

they have a thin strip that apparently lights up a particular colour?

check it out.. and could someone explain to me how that’s the same as this?

  2. I think that this ‘moodmac’ feature is meant to be offered as a feature with the iPod Mini.

I don’t know how old you folks are, but in the ’70s the Mood Ring craze was huge and lasted a LONG time.

Everyone from 5 to 25 had to have one, but in this case I think the dominant target audience is teens, as it was in the ’70s for most ‘Mood’ products

Anyway, I think it would be huge. Let’s face it, the iPod Mini is as much a fashion accessory as it is a superior music player.

Which is not to say that it won’t be used for laptops and towers as well.

LAPTOPS! most students are getting them, rather than being tied to a tower or desktop. I can imagine the ‘mood’ feature for that too.

    If you ask me.

  3. I read an article on this somewhere that suggested one possible use was for gaming — have the color reflect your health; morphing from green to yellow to red as you get shot at in Doom or whatever. Easy to keep track of with your peripheral vision without having to look away from the main action on the screen.
