Maine Commissioner holds out hope for Apple laptop program

“The Maine Education Department failed to reach its goal of signing up enough schools to account for 8,400 laptops. That’s the minimum goal for an interim plan to put laptops in some high schools this fall,” The Associated Press reports. “Commissioner Susan Gendron said Monday that she hopes more schools would commit to get the program closer to that goal in the next few days. At the same time, she hopes Apple will lower the minimum level for participation.”

AP reports, “Gendron said she expected to make an announcement after a discussion with Apple officials on Wednesday.”
